somehow just absorbing how similar these panels from hothouse + secret files: the gardener are respectively. wondering whether it was an intentional reference, but either way, what a fascinating reframing of this period. the way phillip as intrepid narrator in 1993 talks about pam's breakdown as if it were inexplicable & her pheromonal powers like something passive whose effects she might not even have noticed, vs bella in 2021 identifying the onset of those powers as visible and terrifying & pam's following breakdown as completely understandable, especially considering everything else happening to pam. even the compositions of these specific panels... hothouse with pam as the shadowy foreground force phillip is morbidly fascinated by, secret files with pam alone & seemingly struggling to support her own weight. man. :( oh pam…
