In the spirit of the holidays I'd like to share this sentiment. Wrapped up in all of the trappings of tradition people easily forget that others suffer for their pleasure. In my mind there is nothing festive in the slaughter of millions of birds to celebrate a single day. Its an atrocity. Tomorrow everyone in the US will gather with loved ones, and many of us will have to subdue the anger and frustration that we feel as the people we care about stuff dead animals in their mouths. They will pat each other on the back and praise their joyous bounty. I know I'm looking forward to seeing my family, but I'm not looking forward to that sickening smell, or sitting deliberately so that I don't have to gaze upon a carved up carcass. I wrote this piece to remind people of their ignorance and their selfishness. I wrote them in the vain hope that someone would hear these words and end the cruelty and the killing in their own life, through their own choices. Before the "big day" I want to remind people again. Guess what? You're to blame.

Poison Planet - Who’s to Blame?
Born and raised to ignore our surroundings Born and raised to never question We consume and shit and we never think "My actions cause immense suffering" You would never beat an animal for fun You would never torture an animal for sport But you’d close your eyes and you’d turn your back When faced with the realities of factory farms Pens and cages, festering in their own filth Pens and cages, restricting their movement and instinctual behavior A life of torment and discomfort is all they know And you say “turn it off, I don’t want to know.” You absolve yourself of this injustice You absolve yourself from guilt "That animal was going to die anyway!" You didn’t torture these animals You didn’t wield the killing knife You didn’t fire the bolt gun You didn’t take their lives But as you look to your table You should be asking yourself, "Who’s to blame?" Who’s to blame? Who’s to blame?
