When we arrived in Ecruteak City we ran into a guy named Bill. He was spouting some nonsense about a time machine and then asked me to look after a pokemon for him. It ended up being a mutated Blastoise named Raphael. We explored the city a little and caught some pokemon, including a poison water Poliwhirl that became poison because of the toxins from the litter dumped in the rivers and ponds. We found a Weedle that has adapted to life in the water too. On the route to the west we found a grass and ice type Pikachu and a flying type Grimer which was an odd sight as they flew by I'm a flock. Tomorrow I'll explore the Burned Tower!

I battled Whitney today, she's as fierce -and ditzy- as everyone says but now that Om Nom has evolved, his new power saw us through to victory! Whitney did cry and had to be reminded to give me my Plain badge. Someone told me about a strange plant that has been stopping people going to Ecruteak City. I investigated and discovered that it was in fact a Hitmontop that the infection turned into a grass dark type. Now there's nothing to stop us going to Ecruteak City!

I found the day care on the way to Goldenrod City, they asked me to take an egg that was abandoned by a trainer. How could anyone be so heartless? Along the way I caught a Crabby that was dark steel type. When I arrived at Goldenrod there was a competition promoting the Casino, they did a raffle draw and I got third place and won am Aerodactyl. It has become water ghost type. I caught a water type Teddiursa on the waters edge on the route north of Goldenrod. I went to what used to be called the Bug Catching Contest but with all the mutations is now just the Pokemon Catching Contest. There I caught a Horsea that is ice dark type, possibly an adaptation to fend of the multitudes of grass ghost Hoppips. On the way back to the pokemon centre the egg hatched! A tiny Miltank came out, it's mutated to be poison dark. Tomorrow I'll challenge the gym leader Whitney!

The Slowpoke returned to the town the next day as if nothing had happened. I challenged the gym and barely managed to defeat Bugsy, claiming my Insect Badge. Silver battled us again, he's clearly been training hard. It makes me wonder why he wants to be so strong? In Ilex Forest we found a group of grass type Ghastly, and managed to catch one. They've adapted well to their new environment. While training, Om Nom evolved into a Croconaw!

When I arrived in Azalea there was a quiet that seemed forced. I spoke to a man in a black uniform with a red R on the chest, he claimed it was too dangerous to go in Slowpoke well right now.

I spoke with Kurt the pokeball maker and he told me all about Team Rocket. We rushed off to the well to save the Slowpoke. Together we defeated them and Suveous evolved into a Quilava! When he did he gained the ghost typing, I guess Cyndaquil wasn’t immune after all.

On the way out of the well we encountered a Pupitar, it was a normal bug type. I think it must venture out of the cave and into the forest at night and has adapted for that.

Tomorrow I’ll challenge the Azalea gym!

I arrived at the pokemon centre outside Union Cave and spoke to an old fisherman. He gave me one of his old rods (he had a lot of them) and so I delayed my ventures into the cave and did some fishing instead.

The first pokemon I caught was a Magikarp that turned out to be steel and poison type, could this be because of the litter that is dumped in the rivers?

Next I found an electric and fighting Wooper and a few moments later a grass type Sunkern. Why a Sunkern was in the river I’m not sure but it’s the second pokemon I found that retained its original typing. There’s a chance that it’s immune, we could potentially create a vaccine from its DNA if that’s true. I’ll have to find a sun stone and evolve it to be sure.

In the cave I found a poison type Hoothoot and after a lot of exploring finally found my way to the exit. Here I found a curious Weepinbell that had become fighting type, given the number of steel types in the area it may have mutated in response so it can defend itself.

We’re almost at Azalea Town!

Sorry if you don't mind me asking, how are you playing crystal randomized like that? Is it an app or a certain website??

I used a pokemon randomizer on my laptop and email the file to my phone email, I actually play while I'm at work but don't tell my boss! Google pokemon randomizer and run the program, you need a rom to randomized but there are tonnes around

Faulkner made me work hard for that first gym badge but Om Nom held his own with the help of Quartz. Then Prof Elm called and asked me to meet his aide, they wanted me to carry an egg.

I travelled south and caught a Squirtle that had become steel and fire type. I think this is in response to all the grass types threatening it’s home.

Soon after that the egg hatched into another Totodile, I named it Nom Nom. My Totodile is very protective and slightly skeptical about the newborn.

Union Cave here I come!

I found my way to the Ruins of Alph, just west of Violet City. The researchers spoke of a mysterious kind of pokemon called Unown, they are said to protect pokemon and grant wishes. An inscription on the back wall made me curious, using an escape rope I opened a hidden door and found some items inside including a Kings Rock which Om Nom had taken a liking to.

When I explored further I found a room with another inscription on the floor but I couldn’t work out what it said. As I found my way deeper into the Ruins, I found a wild Cyndaquil who seemed to have been protected from the infection. Is this an effect of the Ruins or did the mysterious Unown protect this pokemon? I have decided to train him alongside Om Nom and Quartz, maybe the infection will affect him later on in his evolution line?

I next went to Sprout Tower and found a Hoppip that had become a grass ghost type. The monks insist this is the effect of the 100 foot Bellsprout that became the central pillar of the tower. I’m not sure if I believe that though.

I ran into Silver but he escaped before I could stop him. The lead monk tested me in battle and granted me the HM05 Flash.

Violet City gym is the next stop!

Mum called, I forgot to see her before I left. I feel bad but I was excited by the prospect of all the pokemon I could find. Soon after speaking with mum I found a wild Togepi, these are supposed to be incredibly rare. Johto Form Togepi is dragon type,perhaps we’ll find out why when we train it further. I named her Afriel after the angel of youth.

In Dark Cave we found a male Nidoran which has become amphibious, possibly due to the underground lakes in this cave. It is a poison and water type and I have named him Niko.

We finally reached Violet City, while exploring I found a Goldeen. Which has become a flying and ghost type, it may have to do with the wild mutations the infection is causing but more and more of these type changes just don’t make sense.

Sprout Tower and the Ruins of Alph are my next destinations.

On the way back to Cherrygrove we captured three pokemon that had mutated to new typings. We caught a ghost type Marill which we named Danger Mouse, we think the Marill were chased out of the rivers by stronger pokemon. To avoid predators they became nocturnal and hid in the deep forests. This new environment forced their adaptation to the ghost type.

Next we caught a steel type Geodude, the iron rich mountains caused the type adaptations although we still don’t know why they now live on Route 30.

Finally we found a rock ground type Cubone. We assume the harsher environments caused the adaptation but this is the first Johto Form to retain its usual type and only be augmented with a new one.

Route 31 and Dark Cave lay between me and Violet City.

Prof Elm suggested I visit a friend of his named Mr Pokemon, who lives north of Cherrygrove City. I encountered a lot of pokemon along the way but I could only surmise the type of the local nidoran female who have adapted to become ground type.

When I arrived he introduced me to Professor Oak who gave me a pokedex to help with Prof Elm’s research.

As I left I received a call from Prof Elm, he sounded distressed but didn’t say why, he asked me to rush back. While we were on our way we ran into a red haired trainer called Silver. He forced us into a battle and very nearly defeated Om Nom with his female Nidoran, Om Nom has a huge weakness to ground types.

After we defeated Silver we ran back to the lab and met a police officer who was investigating the theft of Prof Elm’s Nidoran. The description of the theif matched Silver, I told the officer everything I knew even though it wasn’t much.

Prof Elm suggested I take one of these Johto Form pokemon to train and study while I find what other pokemon have mutated. Which would you choose?

I have a soft spot for totodile, so Om Nom joins the team!

A mysterious infection has spread to Johto causing the local pokemon to mutate and adapt to their environments. Professor Elm has requested the help of all trainers to assist in studying the new variations, now called Johto Forms.
