Pokémon Picture Day (Megan & Oceania)
It wasn’t very often that a Leader was allowed to leave the Gym for an extended period without a good reason. Maybe it was because of this that Oceania had not thought twice about accepting the offer to travel to a small town far off from her island. While she was free to roam about her own city in her spare time, it really wasn’t the same as being able to take a trip somewhere.
Not that she would consider this some kind of vacation though.
The bluenette stole a glance at a nearby sign before her eyes resumed their position on a magazine she’d picked up before she’d left. Professor Larchs had personally made a call to her about a day prior. Over the phone he had exclaimed something or other about a new Water Type possibly being discovered. As she was a specialty trainer in such type, he had asked her to make a trip to the lab where they could investigate further.
She hadn’t thought about it at the time, but thinking about it now - she closed her magazine and locked eyes on another sign - it seemed strange he would call her. Was this his way of trying to make her more social with other Leaders? Since she was often secluded to her island, it was rare she visited with others unless under dire circumstances.
Even the meetings that Leaders had every other month were becoming less frequent.
"No point in thinking about it now, I guess," the young girl said to herself, going over the sign in front of her that clearly said Acamar Town and not Lucida Town.
She briefly wondered if she’d taken a wrong turn somewhere as she inspected the surrounding area. The town was quaint, cozy almost - nothing like the bustling city she was so used to. A few people hummed along as they passed by, baskets in hand, greeting her with kind smiles and polite greetings. She could see some children playing together a few feet off into the distance.
The Meria City Gym Leader surveyed the area once more before deciding it would be best to ask someone. As luck would have it, the closest establishment seemed to be a small school where a girl was lazily laying around with what the blunette assumed to be her Pokemon, enjoying the warm sunshine.
"Excuse me," Oceania approached the girl, politely gesturing to her map once she was close enough. "Can you please tell me how to get to Lucida Town?"
Megan's eyes opened slowly as she heard another voice. "Hmm?"
It took her a moment to dart right up and smile. "Oh! Hi there. I'm sorry, I'm"--she yawned a little--"a little tired!"
"Can you please tell me how to get to Lucida Town?"
She examined the stranger's map as she registered her question. "Absolutely! It's not too far from here." She pointed to the general Acamar area. "We're around here right now, and Lucida..." Her finger dragged across the forest. "...is over this way. It's a decent walk, like, you could go around the woods, but cutting through them is a lot easier. And more scenic! It's kind of easy to get lost, though. You've gotta make sure you stay on the right paths with the bigger rocks, and avoid the ponds cuz there's a mean gang of Surskits living in them, and..."
She glanced over at her Pokémon friends as they stirred, then over at the schoolchildren and their teachers getting organized into their single files. "I'm in the middle of a picture day project for this school, but if you wouldn't mind sticking around till it's over, I'd be happy to show you the way! I'm sure you can tell I'm not too good with giving directions."
