Few talk about the darkness that accompanies awakening. It’s been said that it is the most liberating, alienating, excruciating, empowering, lonely, confusing, frightening, expansive journey you will ever endure, and sometimes it can feel more like a curse than a blessing.

Shattering illusions is rarely an enjoyable experience. There is a considerable amount of discomfort that comes with growth and the realization that almost everything you thought you knew, is a lie. Reality is harsh, ignorance is bliss.

At first you may find yourself mourning the life and illusions you once had as well as the loss of many relationships. Feeling alone, disconnected, like you no longer have much in common with the people you are surrounded by. Maybe even ridiculed and shamed. Not just by strangers, but many times friends and family too.

If you find yourself struggling to try to process all this insanity just remember, you are not alone.
