Quick drawing to work out Mara Jade's "look" post-timeskip/Return of the Jedi for my Mara Jade centered fic I wanna write soon 👀
Not quite sold on her grown up look yet, I love her hair here but I'm not sure I'll keep it like this? It's giving "Dying Centipede" which somehow feels fitting for an emperor's hand who is grappling with the sudden death/absence of the emperor but maybe that's just me lol. Also it has a distinct kinda 80s vibe to me which also fits. But idk still deciding.
I suppose it doesn't quiet matter since it's for a fic but I do want to illustrate this story in parts so it matters to me lol
here's art of her when she was a teen, prior to the events of A New Hope :)c
Fic summary: A few years prior to the events of A New Hope, a young woman named Mara Jade, under the guise of a unimportant Imperial recruit, leads an special operation to Tatooine to hunt down any remaining Jedi that may be hiding on the planet.
While there, she meets and befriends a young man her age named Luke, who sparks the first seed of change in Mara's loyalty towards the Empire.
Love the change of lightsaber color here!

Chapter 9: The Galaxy Moves On is here!
The Galaxy moves on after Sullust. But some haven't.
Excerpt:
Luke downed the last of his blue milk Ayran and slipped away from the table.
He needed some air.
Behind him, the room was still going—arguments resuming, someone laughing too loud, Gavin's voice rising over the noise of a group of teens playing Sabacc. Out here, the desert was dark and indifferent.
He had promised a room full of people that he would help.
And Rieekan's message. He really needed to talk to Mara.
As if on cue, his feet led him to a silhouette leaning against the house's round wall.
"Thought you'd never come."
She moved to make space. Luke leaned back, his shoulder touching hers.
"The room feels like it will fall apart the moment I leave."
"Perhaps you don't give your people enough credit," Mara wondered aloud. "Darklighter, that friend of yours, stole a kriffing frigate from the Imperial Navy and handed it to the Rebels. Who does things like that?"
"That was impressive," Luke smiled sadly.
"Then at Yavin, out of thirty-two pilots, two were from Tatooine," she continued. "Alderaan or Corellia would make sense. But Tatooine? Have you considered the sheer statistical odds? It's ridiculous."
Luke nodded, sensing the quiet determination underneath her words. Something had shifted in her—not entirely. But something brighter had come through, the way stars appeared when you stopped looking directly at them.
He came to ask a question. But he already had the answer.
"So you're staying," he said instead, catching her eyes in the shadow. "To free my homeworld, with or without the Alliance. You mean it?"
"What do you think I've been doing for the last four days?" She snorted, mirth in her eyes. "Yes, I am staying. But what did Rieekan actually say?"
"About the same as your guess," Luke sighed, some of the heaviness returning. "Sullust is won, the fleets are gathering. The Hutt Space Campaign has outlived its purpose, and he cannot divert Alliance resources here."
"But he did not order you back," Mara observed.
Rieekan knew what it felt like to lose a homeworld, he thought.
And perhaps, just perhaps, the Alderaanian General was also looking out for Leia in his own way—Han might be lost forever if they did not act now.
"No. Just that he needed me in Sullust in a week, and that the Alliance cannot support the liberation of Tatooine." He paused. "But there's more."
"What?"
"Chewie and a volunteer pathfinder squad were tasked to retrieve us. They arrive tomorrow at dawn and are also due in Sullust in a week."
"No military support my arse," Mara huffed.
Luke laughed. He found Mara's gloved hand and squeezed.
The Galaxy had moved on. But they weren't leaving this time.
Happy Star Wars Day! Here’s my other Skywalker Twins comic all in one post!
Happy Star Wars Day!!!
Mara Jade with strawberry blonde hair and practical clothes
So unfortunately I found this while scrolling through Pinterest on my phone and ofc the artist wasn't credited 🙄 Google Lens search wasn't helpful either. Does anyone know where this is from so I can credit them????? This has got to be one of the most gorgeous pieces of Lukemara fanart I've ever seen 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
What if like in Andor, Mara is a cop hell bent on finding this murderer but as she tracks him across the galaxy she uncovers more of the mystery and it's not what she bargained for, and he's not what she thought. ;)
I see potentials 👀
I've finally had time to draw for fun again oh my god!!!
Some Kleya/Mon to ease back into things <3 Mon keeps telling her she needs to unwind...
New Update!
Chapter 8: The Will to Hold, depicting the Battle of Sullust, is here!
Excerpt:
Rivoche tightened the straps on her armored vest and took the SoroSuub's X-80 from a quartermaster. She had always wanted to try one of those sniper rifles marketed as "sporting blasters", if only because they were prohibited by her uncle back on Eriadu.
Perhaps now was as good a time as ever.
She checked the sight picture, adjusted the stock, and gave a nod to the Sullustan. Outside the window walls, the absence of traffic flow was disturbing—Rivoche never thought she would miss such a ridiculous metropolitan sight. In its place, smoke and explosions were endlessly sparking from the blocks around the Imperial garrisons' positions.
There, and seemingly unstoppable streams of armors and tiny figures of black uniforms flowing right towards the SoroSuub HQ complex. Two panicked freighters rose from the HQ's landing pad, only to be vaporized by a string of deadly green shots of rapid-fire artillery instantly.
She suppressed a sigh. Holding her sinking heart firm, Rivoche put on her helmet and walked back into the main conference room.
Leia, now in an armored vest as well, was holding a Defender blaster pistol of her own. Satine's Lament, they called it. If war was peace's lament of this galaxy, it sure was a long one. Her face was as serious as ever. Her spirited brown eyes met Rivoche's, then darted at the sniper rifle in her hands. Leia nodded approvingly.
Besides her, Bribbs was standing at the window with a faraway look. He too was protected by an armored vest and a helmet, yet he wore it uncomfortably. The straps were slack or untied, almost as if they were forced onto him, despite the Sullustan-specific design. A handful of military staff stood a few steps away, their faces grim and ashen.
"So it begins," Bribbs said as the first wave of bright blue ion shots flew at the SoroSuub HQ, only to be absorbed by the invisible shield.
A shield that, Rivoche noted, would not last forever. She glanced at the other woman, who inspired hope in so many across the Galaxy.
Whose life was too valuable to risk in this building.
"I trust that you have all seen it. The airspace is locked," she said, the real question left unvoiced. A few Sullustan staff nodded unhappily.
"Fear not, Lady Tarkin," Bribbs smiled as he turned back towards the room. The corners of his jowl moved in a way that didn't reach his eye. "SoroSuub HQ has a built-in escape tunnel system. The Board of Directors have relocated already, to continue the fight once the HQ falls."
Will they, though? Rivoche shared a worried look with Leia.
"If. We are talking about the worst case scenario here," Leia corrected, well aware of increasingly despairing SoroSuub staff around them. Bribbs might be a decent diplomat, but he clearly had no clue on how to lead in a war.
Half of commanding is performing, Rivoche's dead uncle's sneer surfaced in her brain. And the other half is decades of hard work drilled into your intuition, which you will never understand without joining the Academy, young lady.
Now she half wished that she did.
"If you do say so," Bribbs waved in the air and sat back down at his huge, lavish desk. He poured three flutes of wine from a half-emptied bottle. "A toast, ladies?"
Rivoche winced. She shook her head as Leia outright ignored the Sullustan.
"I'll start, then. To a glorious sacrifice for the motherland! To the Sun, To the Death, To the Great Mountains!" Bribbs tilted his flute and drained it entirely, his hand shaking. "But the Imperials will not be here for another hour or so. You are safe to leave, and I advise you both to do so speedily. It is our doom and ours alone, after all."
"I won't leave."
"I'll stay."
Happy May the Fourth! I added a second page to this comic from last year!
Love how Leia is still smiling when asked Ben to change back lol
My Professor decides to celebrate May 4th with a research report deadline…
So yeah, this is how I am spending the Force day instead of playing Battlefront II… or work on the next chapter of my story… or pose my action figures… 😇
Still… May the Force be with you all!
Luke Skywalker (Partisan)
There’s just something extreme funny with Tatooine Luke with a Soviet style cap helmet that makes him an awesome Partisan group figure.
It also does’t hurt that he has that photogenic war poster look to him.
Vel Sartha (Pathfinder)
Got some leg parts that fit surprisingly well with my previous Vel (with Endor Leia body).
Honestly would be a great army builder - if this comba doesn’t make her significantly shorter than most troop figures.
Art I did for the Chocolate Box exchange this year on AO3 ft:
Luke and Leia from A New Hope
Luke and Mara Jade from legends Thrawn trilogy era
Check out the entire collection here on AO3!
if that art of blushing luke and mara was good i cant wait to see anakin, and leia's reaction to it.
Enter Leia and repeat. (PREVIOUS PART)
I can’t believe that I never seen these arts before! Soooo good!
