HISTORY is MOVING FORWARD: House Republicans Drop DOMA Defense

Lawyers for House Republicans have withdrawn their legal defense of the Defense of Marriage Act, the Washington Post reported Wednesday. Citing the Supreme Court's decision to strike down the federal ban on same-sex marriage, the Bipartisan Legal Advisory Group said it would no longer press the Obama administration to enforce DOMA, withdrawing its defense in McLaughlin v. Panetta, a case regarding spousal benefits for gay members of the military.

This photo breaks my heart. It resonates even louder in my heart since it's Memorial Day. Seeing this poor woman's tragedy only reminds me how important it is for this terrible war to end and to allow our Troops to have freedom of their own.

Despite being so liberal, I actually have an immense amount of respect and love for our Armed Forces. I would never even think of insulting or disrespecting a soldier in or out of uniform.

I may not agree with the war they are fighting, but I support them 100%. The sacrifices they make are incredibly selfless and brave.

I wish republicans would realize that most Liberals actually respect the troops. However, they always seem to focus on the Liberals who spit on and mock these brave men and women. It's a shame that Progressives get a bad name because of these foul actions.

CNN Anchor Bullies Amanda Knox Over Rumors Of ‘Sexual Deviance’

Disgusting.  I'm disappointed in CNN for partaking in the tradition of "slut-shaming" this country has grown accustomed to.

CUOMO: And therefore you resented her because she was judging you? None of that?

KNOX: No. Absolutely not. There’s no evidence of that.

CUOMO: That’s the theory. Knox is into some freaky sexual things. She tried to pull in Meredith, who was a staid, buttoned-up Brit, she wasn’t into it, and it went wrong…That was in the discussion of the judges, yes?

KNOX: Absolutely. I was there in the courtroom when they were calling me things like “violent,” “whore,” and “deviant.” And it’s all untrue.

CUOMO: Where are they getting that from? Did you have any type of experimental activities that you’re embarrassed to talk about? That they know about?

KNOX: Well in the book I talk about all my sexual experiences, and I haven’t needed to talk about the details of that because they aren’t deviant. I wasn’t strapping on leather and bearing a whip. I’ve never done that.

Bomb suspect, Tamerlan Tsarnaev, influenced by mysterious radical

Sad evidence of the harm extreme religion can incur upon a young person's life.... Tamerlan Tsarnaev had a promising future ahead of him before being brainwashed by the evils of religion. 

WASHINGTON (AP) — In the years before the Boston Marathon bombings, Tamerlan Tsarnaev fell under the influence of a new friend, a Muslim convert who steered the religiously apathetic young man toward a strict strain of Islam, family members said.

"'Don't interrupt them,'" Khozhugov recalled the mother saying. "'They're talking about religion and good things. Misha is teaching him to be good and nice.'"

Tamerlan loved music and, a few years ago, he sent Khozhugov a song he'd composed in English and Russian. He said he was about to start music school.

Six weeks later, the two men spoke on the phone. Khozhugov asked how school was going.

"I quit," Tamerlan said.

"Why did you quit?" Khozhugov asked. "You just started."

"Music is not really supported in Islam," he replied.

"Who told you that?"

"Misha said it's not really good to create music. It's not really good to listen to music," Tamerlan said, according to Khozhugov.
