Lobbyists and anti-abortion activists on influential body are a contrast to Conservative Party’s public messaging
While Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre promised to fight for Canada’s “common people” at a national convention this past weekend in Calgary, his party elected a governing council full of lobbyists working for some of the country’s most powerful corporations. Half of his new 20-person council—an influential body that oversees the party’s internal affairs, including nominations and election readiness—are recent or current corporate lobbyists, a Breach analysis of lobby registry records reveals. That didn’t stop Conservative MP Aaron Gunn from describing the Conservatives as the “party of Canadian workers.”

The thing is, none of the resigning tories have suddenly woken up and grown a conscience, they just realised that the abhorrence of the party has reached its tipping point for the general public and are all getting out now while they still have a choice so they can claw back some pretence of ever having any morals.

I'm a Republican in the same way the Lincoln was a Republican. I stand for some of the same things that he stood for.
The federal government should provide public transportation nationwide.
We shouldn't be using our militia to threaten other countries in international diplomacy and federal policy.
The minimum wage should be the cost of living at least.
Sending in militia to threaten American people is horrid and should not be done.
Immigrants need to be provided the same rights of any other American person, regardless of immigration status. Asylum seekers are always welcome.
The main cause of the civil war was caused by disagreements regarding slavery and civil rights.
The government needs to stay in the place of the government and not raid people's lives.
The government is not supposed to govern private affairs, only legal and civil affairs.
So why are modern day conservatives so mad when I argue for what they supposedly stand for?
