Dearest Allies, Volunteers, and Mission Control lovers, With regret, I must announce that we have lost the lease on our building. There’s no doubt that the space which has hosted so many good times over nearly 14 years will be missed, but do not despair! We have a plan for moving forward. Mission Control isn’t bricks and mortar. It’s not just a pretty paint job. Mission Control is PEOPLE, and with your help we will find a new club house soon. We’re going to need your support in the coming months. We will be moving and decorating and fundraising, and hope to make this transition as smooth as possible. I want to especially acknowledge the many hours of planning and hard work that volunteers have contributed to make Mission Control such a special and unique place in the world. Just as we have completed all of our design and safety projects, it is sad to suddenly find it time for us to move on. We do, however, have time to enjoy the wonderland we have created together for a couple more months. We will be hosting all our events as scheduled at the current location until the end of November. Please come out and celebrate our home on Mission Street while we still can. It’s Essence tonight, so stop by! There are lots of things I don’t know

And when I check in deep inside


I get this feeling of a vastness


Like that first moment as a child

When you looked up at the sky

And understood what it was

That moment of gentle panic

That flutter of unknowing

Only put slightly at ease

By the hand of your Father on your shoulder

By being taken onto his knee
 and being told about Orion and Cassiopeia

  There are countless things that make me feel that way

Its part of being human- it happens every day


But fear is not our enemy

It’s our guide


Would you follow?

If the tree was so scarily tall


That when you stood underneath it and looked up it made you dizzy?

I would climb it


And hold my hand out to you


To scramble up there with me


Regardless of our fears
 that we might fall

  So for all the things I don’t know

There is one thing that I’m sure


A moth will burn its wings on a candle

Fluttering and fragile


But a cat can see in the dark


And God likes to climb trees in the park
