*A arcade that closed down in around 1984 but became popular in 2016 do to a popular ghost story about a living arcade cabinet with the name ‘Cabinet Man’ you could be an urban explorer, another entity, or maybe even a investigator.*

DNI: no NSFW (I’m uncomfortable with it), racists, homophobia or anyone harmful. I am not afraid to block. You also can’t get freaky with Polybius or Cab obviously, I guess you can try to be romantic with Poly but don’t expect him to feed into it usually.

I spell things wrong and read things wrong than most people.

STORY/GEN

Polybius is specifically in the backroom of the arcade like behind the prize corner. Polybius has like robotic arms in its sides. I might make art of it sometime but I don’t feel like it rn.

Polybius only eats people unless very necessary like if it’s starving. Using its hypnotic abilities to make someone get a little too close. It has its mouth more in the base of the cabinet and not on the screen like one would think.

Poly is a specter stuck in an arcade cabinet like it’s bound to it not physically but kinda like how a ghost can be stuck to a place. It doesn’t like to show itself a lot.

There also can be AUs where the arcade isn’t closed. Also Cabinet Man is dead because of the people that broke him but there can be AUs where he’s alive too.

Poly’s pronouns are any really I mostly use he/him or it/its but idc really

not a scientist, but a mimic as a arcade machine, snacking (sometimes) on coins, not being a real arcade machine hence why it cant be beat. and when the people break and enter and bash at it it bleed cause. its a mimic. and instead of scaring them off it eats them

Poly’s arcade cabinet is made out of wood and it bends and creaks a lot, kinda like something is trying to get itself out but never can.

Its arms are a thin but durable rubber so it can stretch a bit but the material on its hands is more similar to a tire but its claws are surprisingly flexible.

The machine’s screen can crack open and seemingly mend back together, maybe it’s fake? It usually does this to eat.

Polybius doesn’t seem to have very good vision but it has memorized the arcade and likely knows its way through it better than you.

There’s a small handle on its back but doesn’t let me open it, what is it hiding?

The machine despite it’s violent history is very docile and affectionate if it trusts you enough, I like to set beside it and do my homework or draw mindlessly. Its casing is surprisingly warm and its arms are soft.

It’s cabinet kinda well kept now that I think about it..is Neil really taking care of this old machine?

Poly’s species is interesting, first I suspected mimic but it’s too sentient to be so, and ghost but with its history of affecting humans, I think it’s a specter by the hypnosis..but how could someone trap a specter, and in a arcade cabinet of all things?

Well, I arrived because they replaced the Pac-Man machine with me :D

‘Hm, so you’re new here..I’m not the only entity here, there’s quite a few actually..most are docile, but if one or two of them messes with you too badly, I can help you. Just call for me.’ Poly explained calmly in an order of beeps and buzzes, it liked her and wanted her safe preferably.

(Ooc: Aka he’s not letting another Cabinet Man incident. Polybius is also kinda like the guard of the arcade in a way, deals with human intruders usually by eating them.)

*The machine shifted slightly, not expecting this really, it’s seen alternate versions of itself many times but not one that’s feminine, Poly wouldn’t call itself particularly masculine or feminine. It wasn’t assigned a specific gender at hatching so it felt no need, oh right..*

“Woah… this arcade feels a bit like home.” Poly said, wandering in at a slow, steady pace. She stopped upon seeing the Polybius machine, her namesake… the very cabinet her father named her after. She had one back home, but that one had been manifested by her father and replicated based on rumor. This one was real and this… this was out in the wild.

“Amazing…” She whispered, coming a bit closer.
