Fangirl Challenge + [1/10] Friendships: Serena and Blair (Gossip girl)
"Shoulder pads may come and go, but a BFF is forever. Because even when you’re not sure where you’re headed, it help to know you’re not going there alone."
There’s Something About Mary (USA, 1998)
"I believed from the first reading of the script that this film would be a classic. I wanted the clothes to be fresh and modern, but not especially wedded to 2008, when it was filmed. It was important that the audience believe what she is wearing are pieces she can afford. Summer is inventive, the kind of woman who reuses clothes that are out of date, and scours thrift stores and urban craft markets and ethnic stores that are unique to downtown Los Angeles. She has the confidence to be herself, to know what she likes and to wear only that, which is never fussy or overly accessorized. Her Midwestern roots are reflected in her clothing’s lack of pretension—not overly sexualized or on the make. She wears the kind of shoes a young woman without a car and relying on public transportation would wear”. - Hope Hanafin, costume designer.
I just got off the phone with my mom.
It’s alright. I certainly miss my family, but I can keep in touch online. I’ve been thinking about how I’d like to see them soon though.
I think Elliott would wipe the floor with us! but yeah, that’s not a bad idea. I’ll see what they say. I’ve been meaning to invite you to one of our Monday Nights; Ryder and Elliott would already be there. And after the ‘lesson’ we can watch movies and eat crap food and hang about.
I'm guessing you'd take Ryder and Elliott with you so that your family would have a chance to meet them? I'm sure they've heard all about them already.
That sounds like fun! I know I was talking to Elliott and he said that I should stop by to hang out with you guys and I'm sure that Ryder wouldn't mind it if I were there either. We can plan this all out when I come home.
Ahhhhh!
Boop. I kiss your nose.
You're ridiculous, Ryder Lynn.
Really? I don’t see why it’s any different than any other birthday. So I turn another year older, we all do. It’s part of life.
Your thirties are when you're supposed to be, you know, settling down and having kids and stuff. Your twenties are for figuring out how to be an adult and then, by the time you're thirty, you're supposed to know.
I just got off the phone with my mom.
A year? ish? I think Christmas before last I was up there, but Bradley had something at work; he couldn’t make it back.
Brilliant! It’s a date, My Dear. We’ll meet up some time after you return and practice. Maybe Ryder could join us and we’ll teach him a thing or two even.
Wow, that seems like a really long time. Is it hard not being able to visit home very often?
Ryder and Elliott could come along. That makes four and that means we can have equal dancing partners, not an odd man (or woman) out.
Well, I’m still twenty-six for a couple more months; but for now, thirties doesn’t seem all that bad. That’s life, you get a bit older, but I don’t see why that has to change anything.
I think you are honestly the first twenty year old I've ever met who isn't afraid of turning thirty.
Ahhhhh!
The best way, Penny.
Oh, okay! Well, thank you Ryder!
I just got off the phone with my mom.
Going home? I’ve only been to Illinois once; when I visited Chicago for a weekend during college, do you live anywhere near the city?
We lived in a suburb outside of Chicago and it was really only half an hour drive to get to the city so it wasn't that far. Did you like it there?
I just got off the phone with my mom.
Oh, that sounds fun! Did I know you were from the Midwest, too? I’m from northwest Indiana myself, and all my family’s still there, so I understand the feeling … I haven’t really seen ‘em since Christmas.
Maybe when you get back we can hang sometime. Adam mentioned he’d invited you over, and I know I’m cool with it, if you wanna come by.
I don't think so because I don't remember knowing that you were from Indiana. My parents came to San Francisco for Christmas so I can't even remember the last time I was up in Illinois.
You know, I'd like that Elliott. The three of you can just let me know when it's a good time for me to come over and I'll do it!
I just got off the phone with my mom.
That’s so cool, man, I hope you have an awesome time!
Thanks Sam! I hope I have an awesome time too!
Yes, that’s the one! Oh, Bates Motel? Yeah, it’s pretty good, actually. But it doesn’t hold a candle to the original story from Hitchcock’s film. I agree though; I recommend watching it first.
I'll see if I can convince my dad to sit down and watch Psycho with me. I know he used to love the Halloween movies when he was a kid so he'll probably enjoy this one too.
Two years is a lot when you’re fifteen!
I guess that's true! Two years doesn't seem as big when you're in your twenties, unless you're 28 and in two years you're going to reach the dreaded thirties.
I just got off the phone with my mom.
Oh, no. I think if the opportunity to head to England for a week popped up, I’d take it just as quickly.
Clearly, this means we’ll have to find time for a make-up lesson once you get back. No worries, you enjoy time with your mum. Family’s important.
When was the last time that you were back there to see everyone?
A make up lesson sounds like a great idea!
Ahhhhh!
You’re so cute, Penny.
Thank you?
I'm hoping you meant cute in a good way and not, like dumb-cute...
