FALL UPON THE FUNERAL MOURNERS.
── colin zabel x fem!reader (fluff, h/c, AU?).
[?] : i added a non-existent brother to Colin's life for this small fic.
Your hands trembled, tears streamed down your cheeks. The pain still lingered even though it had been six months since your boyfriend, Kyle, passed away. Kyle...died in an accident while attending to a complex case, he and Colin are brothers, Colin being the older one and Kyle's inspiration, unfortunately, it did not turn out the same.
You knocked on the Zabels' door once more. Judy, your dead boyfriend's mother, had promised you could come to her whenever you felt lonely and missed Kyle, and that's exactly what you did... You wiped your tears when the door finally opened, Colin. His older brother looked confused, as if he didn't understand what you were doing there, especially why you were still crying.
"Uhm- Y/N? Everything...okay?" He said, clearly confused, and when he saw that you didn't answer, he stepped aside to let you pass, which you did.
"I'm sorry to bother you," you said, your voice sounding like you had cried a lot.
"No, no...it's okay. My mother isn't here if you were looking for her, but...come on," he said, leading you to the living room to sit down. "It's about...Kyle, isn't it?"
When he mentioned your Kyle's name, it hurt even more. The similarity in their voices broke your heart, and as you sat down, you buried your face in your hands and wept. Not knowing how to react, he sat beside you, sliding his arm around your shoulders to let you know someone was there.
"shh...it's okay, cry-" he whispered.
"It's hard...God, it is. I've tried to breathe properly, but every time I see couples kissing in a fucking park, it hurts more...Why him, Colin?" You looked towards him, Colin had a face that said he didn't know how to react.
"I..." you didn't even let him finish.
"I'm sure you're feeling the same way I am. You lost a brother...that must hurt." He looked at the back of your head as you continued to cry. He pressed his lips together and sighed, saying...
"If I cry, I won't bring him back." Colin confessed, with some truth in his words.
"It doesn't mean it doesn't hurt," you said, your voice filled with pain.
"I know. And it hurts, maybe not as much as it hurts you...but it hurts. His absence is...painful." He took his hand away from you, placing both hands on his knees, looking down at the carpet, then he looked at you, as you looked up, your cheeks covered in mascara.
"Sorry to bother you with this." You said, your voice sounding slightly high.
"That's okay. You're not the only one. Mom has been like that too." He loud sighed, seemed like he just wanted a break... as if implying that he wanted to let it out anyway.
After almost an hour of silence, with you staring at the wall and him sitting uncomfortably next to you, he said.
"I didn't want to say it because you arrived here crying, but... I'm glad to see you. I'm glad to know you'll always come back despite his absence." Yes, you and he were close too, of course, he was your brother-in-law.
"Yeah...glad to see you too." you whispered bsck.
"Would it sound stupid if I told you that...you look...pretty?" He spoke and immediately closed his mouth, realizing he'd said it out loud. You turned to look at him.
"Brothers' affection" He lied. Perhaps your longing for male touch led you to place your hand on his.
You looked towards other side, sighing heavily on the verge of crying again, and he, with a free hand, moved your hair to one side... doubting even himself, and kissed you on the lips.
You looked at him...he even closed his eyes to kiss you.
After returning his quick kiss, he pulled his lips away... and then gently kissed the corner of your lips. Damn, he was making you feel something and you didn't want it.
"He always told me to protect you if one day he was no longer here."
and that hurt, you were gonna say something but he talked first.
"I know he didn't mean this. But now I understand why he loved you so much."
And simply...you cried again, this time hugging him and burying your face in his neck, leaning on him for support. The confirmation that he truly loved her before he died...it hurt even more to hear it from his brother's mouth.
