Hello good evening do you have any rally race recommendations or other rally things to watch during motogp’s second mini summer break?

hi arrow great question made a little difficult to answer by the WRC's commitment to making it as hard as possible to actually watch the sport, especially anything from more than a year or two ago!! a bit of a classic "this thing i'm recommending sucks and is bad" situation. but I have persevered and will make 2 rally recs from this year and an assortment of random wtf moments:

in the interest of crazy shit happening at any moment rally kenya is always a good time! it has a huge mix of conditions and the cars get really beat up so there's lots of position swaps and fun roadside engineering solutions. it literally does not matter if you're 5 minutes behind there's a realistic chance that everyone in front of you will become a submarine in a mud puddle

the first event of the year is always rallye monte carlo which is probably the most well known #classic rally. a lot of it is run at night which produces beautiful visuals, and it's really demanding because of the combination of darkness, possible snow/black ice, and technical mountain roads

I lied and i will also rec:

3) rally finland from two weeks ago! finland is another classic rally, it's the fastest on the calendar and known for big jumps. it can be a bit of a procession because it's hard to make up even a small gap when everyone is going so fast, but i felt like this year was fairly eventful. someone crashes right in front of their dad and he helps pull them out of a ditch.

some moments that show the full comedy -> yikes spectrum of things that can happen to you in a rally:

the previously mentioned falling into a lake a nearly drowning and then pulling the car out of the lake and competing the next day / thierry neuville breaks his radiator while winning the rally and has to fill it up with beer he was given on the podium to avoid being disqualified (quote was i believe "if we had to pee in the car we would have") / dani sordo's car straight up burns to the ground / thierry also had to push his car nearly a kilometer one time / just like motogp there's a bird moment, oliver solberg went over a jump and hit a bird in midair breaking his windscreen
