So as you all know, the spot of Hershel on this blog, and (I believe) Luke on ParentalPuzzler have been filled in. I’ve now discovered the positions will be permanent, as the old mun of these muses will not be returning to the RP community anytime soon, or into the same fandoms. This means that I’m now also on the look for a “Phoenix Wright-Edgeworth” and a “Randall Layton/Randall Ascot” to fill in the roles for pompousprosecution’s Phoenix and parentalpuzzler/twentypicarats’ Randall. "I’m pretty sure that the pain is usually from a trigger, but it does still sometimes cause him trouble, even without a mention of anything related to the… Event."

Yet, he really should take Hershel up to a hospital to have them checked. If anything, like Miles said, they could give some medication. Randall wasn’t a fan of hospitals himself, but he’d do anything to help Hershel.

"Your husband really does seem like an outstanding person, I have to admit. The fact that he believed in your innocence, even after you confessed, and had managed to prove that you were innocent— he must be an excellent attorney and person to be able to do something like that."

"I… I believe the both of you would be the right people, if any to take on the case."

“Ah so, Layton is triggered by mention of the beating, and that causes him pain more often than not? I do recommend heading to a hospital to maybe get a prescription for the pain. I'll take a shot in the dark, it's not just the beating directly that causes pain, it's anything that reminds him of it?"

       [♠] A hand was raised to his chin, and he began to think. Maybe he could pin this man, if he was truly at fault. He couldn't imagine how he and Phoenix would react if they had suffered the same prejudice these two had faced;

“Wright truly is an amiable attorney, even if I won't say so to his face. He's been the best I've ever met, straight from the start. The only thing is, half the time he relies on dumb luck and pulls things together through some sort of miracle.”

“I can assure you, Wright and I can have this case locked up before the bench trial time limit is up. All we need to do is drag this guy to the detention center for questioning and we can get this started. Can I have a name?”

"Yeah, thats… That’s how he got the injury. Multiple ribs were broken, I  don’t think they ever healed. Yet, Hersh insists that they’re fine."

Miles Edgeworth-Wright was a prosecutor. How didn’t that cross his mind? He even indirectly stated as such.Yet, could Randall really accept the offer before consulting Hershel? Didn’t you need the victim and witnesses to produce a testimony? He didn’t even know if Angela was willing to.

"I do— the handler of the pipe, anyway. But… Do you think you’d be able to win over the case? I mean, it was fifteen years ago now, there wasn’t many witnesses, either."

"I suspected it wasn't a casual injury. As a prosecutor it's my job to assess even the smallest of details. However, have you thought of maybe bringing him to a hospital at some point? He may at least be able to get a medication to lessen the pain. Unless, of course, the pain is triggered by something?"

       [♠] His eyes fell shut for a moment. Could he do this? Maybe with... with Wright's help behind the defence bench. But, the other's skepticism, he hardly knew how to reply, so, with his eyes closing once again, he inhaled, just speaking whatever came out;

“I was involved with a case known as DL-6, over 15 years ago. Before the bench trial system began, cases that were open but never brought to a definite conclusion would remain open for 15 years. I was a suspect for murder in that trial, no, no that's not right. I confessed for the murder in that trial, and Wright brought everything he could to the table to prove my innocence on the last possible day.”

"What I mean to say is, if anyone can do it, it's him and I. Even if only one witness exists, those injuries are definitive proof. I'll personally ask Wright to take up defending the case, both of us seek justice, not just a win. If this man is truly guilty, the two of us will being him down."

Randall grinned at the last words; ”I’ll be sure to keep that in mind.”

He was caught slightly off guard from the sudden question, yet, it was to be asked soon enough. Better to get it over and done with, rather than stressing over it.

"It was before he came out, actually. We must of been 19 and 20, my parents caught us together. They were extremely disapproving, outed us to the whole village. Slurs, threats and the rest were thrown at us, while we were disallowed to see eachother at all. It took a while to fix that up but, uh…" He paused for a moment, figuring out the words he would say. "I was walking home, and I walked by a group of people, abusing somebody on the floor. Punching clawing, kicking and worst of all, hitting with a metal pipe. They almost murdered Hersh and I… If I had been there a few minutes after, he probably would’ve been dead."

       [♠] A fist clenched, the other hand clasping over his mouth in disbelief. He didn't want to believe such a story but, the look in the ginger's eyes told no lies. This was something that had truly happened;

“That... that's simply awful. ...But, that wouldn't happen to be how Layton got that dreadful injury on his ribcage would it? It doesn't seem to affect him much, just a sudden spur here and there.”

“And you wouldn't happen to... know any of the names of the culprits would you? I am a prosecutor. Layton has clearly been crippled with lifelong injuries because of the event. I will personally seek out their prosecution, even if the injury left isn't anything life altering.”

The redhead couldn’t help but react somewhat surprised that the other had managed to guess who he was talking about, in one guess, too. Yet, it wasn’t strange people knowing who Hershel was— he was well known not just throughout London, but known throughout a number of different countries. Something Randall had aimed to do in his younger years.

Yet, the silver-haired person before him had met Hershel in person; even making a comment on those retched green shoes. He was right; Hersh did have somewhat high standards with who he associated himself with. With a grateful smile he replied;

    “Thanks, I suppose,-” and then he realised it, the two of them were not quite acquainted, considering that they did not know eachother’s name. He held out his hand once again, for the other to shake. “-I’m Randall Layton, not officially just yet, though.”

       [♠] His hand met the other strongly. Despite his uptight nature he truly did have a strong handshake, to most peoples surprise. But, a trustworthy man must have a handshake to match, after all.

“Miles Edgeworth-Wright. My colleagues call me Edgeworth, my friends call me Miles. Please refrain from calling me Wright.”

“If it's not imposing, may I ask exactly what you meant earlier, when you mentioned your fiancé had received the worst when he came out?”

"Sorry, what was that? Looks like you may have to repeat yourself."

       [♠] He blushed, looking to the side for a moment before leaning in once again and kissing him softly;

"It doesn't matter what you say, you're still a halfwit."

"I’m hurt Miles, truly. Maybe you should kiss me to make it better."

“I suppose I have no objections, you half-wit.”

"Nah, I think we both know that’s not quite true."

What is your favourite thing about Phoenix?

"That's a surprisingly difficult question to answer. There's no one particular thing that I favour over the rest of him. He truly is an assorted personality, but it's each of those attributes together that make him the man he is. I suppose, in that manner, my favourite thing about Wright would be Wright as a whole."

He had to admit, he was somewhat taken aback. How he said years wasn’t as if it was two or three, more like reaching around 10.

Randall looked at the ring with full attention; soon enough he and Hershel would have their own matching bands of gold.

Taking his ring-hand that was before in his pocket, he showed the silver-haired other. The engagement ring.

"…My Fiance and I have been together for a pretty long time and, uh, past experiences have left us, well almost scared to be open about it. Hersh recently came out, and he got the worst of it— I feel like I should be open but…” he stopped himself, causing a brief pause to be sounded.

"…Heh, I’m sorry for laying this on you. It just that… Well you’re the first person that I’ve come across to be like myself in that sense."

       [♠] So this other man was... in the closet? God only knows how long ago that ship sailed for Miles. He distinctly remembers coming out to Franziska one evening when he was young, crying, confused, desperate for some sort of explanation for his feelings. She slapped him dead across the face and told him something along the lines of 

        Only a foolish fool would foolishly sob on about his foolish emotions. Part of perfection is being able to assess and embrace your differences, or are you too much of a fool to realize that?

       [♠] And those were the words that had stuck with him, through all these years, and gave him the courage to accept Wright's... pitiful attempt at asking for a date. However, the redhead before him seemed even more nervous, despite his engagement to this... Hersh.

“If I may ask, this, 'Hersh' you're referring to, wouldn't happen to be Hershel Layton, would it? Pardon if it's rude, and it is a rather slim chance, but your accent seems reminiscent of the hatted fellow.”

"Ah, you may wonder why I'd ask such a ridiculous question and I feel I should clear the air before you answer; Hershel Layton is an old friend of my husband's, so it would be a happy coincidence if I became acquainted with his lover, would it not? I had my suspicions the brief moment I met him but chose not to speak on it, in case he wasn't sure himself. However, if this is the case;"

"Do not worry about telling me anything. Hershel Layton has very high standards when it comes to his connections, his friends, and his fashion; aside from those awful green shoes which completely contradict the gentlemanly aura he's attempting to uphold. If you happen to be his fiancé, then you're a friend of mine as well."

Phoenix Wright— that name rung a bell. Hershel must of said something about him once before. Now that he thought about it, wasn’t he that attorney that was in the papers every now and then? And those last few words that the man in red in front of him said… If people this well known could be in the open about who they loved, and still be respected— couldn’t he, too?

"Your… Husband? Can I ask how long you to have, well… Been open your relationship?"

“Ah, Phoenix and I have been very open about our relationship for years. I mean, he practically flaunted me on our first date like I was some gold medal.”

       [♠] He presented his ring to the redhead before him. What he wondered though was... why on earth the other was so curious about his relationship;

“May I inquire why you ask?”

If Randall was honest, we was slightly lost. He’d been wondering around, and had somehow led himself here— he’d have to ask for directions. Yet, something about the man was drawing him in. And who exactly was this ‘Wright’?

"I was going to ask you something else but, who is this ‘Wright’ person?"

“You must be lost to have not heard of his dumb luck before. Phoenix Wright, the defence attorney I'm facing in this trial, most of the time he's a complete halfwit behind the bench, with the most astounding luck one has ever seen."

       [♠] Straightening his cravat and clearing his throat, he took a quick glance down at his own left hand;

“However, that idiot also happens to be my husband.”

"Since you're standing in my lobby one of two conditions are true; Either you're horribly lost at the moment..."

       [♠] A small smirk soon danced on his face, his fists clenching with withheld excitement;

"Or you're part of those among the benches waiting for me to beat Wright."
