Honestly, the lesson QSMP has taught me is fundamentally these streamers/youtubers do not see their fans as people. I have never once been under the impression that these people personally value each and every one of their fans, but I have always believed in human empathy. Which was proven wrong over and over again. They do not remotely value them as anything but a numbers game, they do not see them as people who are spending their hard earned money and often times meager free time to promote and support them. They see them as one entity that they just need to appease enough they’ll get more than they lose from.
It does not matter to them how abhorrent workers rights violations are, because to them they gain more from supporting and participating in this project than they gain from stepping back or standing in defense. To them the workplace abuse, was an unfortunate incident that probably could have been handled better… but well the fans should have just quit if they were really having a bad time. I mean really it was a learning experience for them all, just getting to be around us was reward enough for them. The admins really could have tried harder, I mean some of them had a good time after all. Are we really sure, it was the fault of the company and not their own fandom driven exceptions.
The fact of the matter is if the backlash is not server enough, if they gain viewers instead of losing them, if its only a few people protesting it they won’t even pretend to care.
Quackity is the only real person in this situation to them, he is the only one that matters. Really he had a hard time too, didn’t you see how much stress he was under? Plus he’s fun to hang out with, and so respectful too. He’s really young don’t you know? How was he supposed to know any better and I’ve just had such a wonderful time with him, you really should just give him another chance.
Sure streamers are a bit attached to their audience, but I mean fans are just one homogenous being to them and there is a lot people really cheering for this. To the streamer those are the real fans, and if those fans agree with them then, they must be right, and everyone else is just a nah sayer.
I want people like Quackity, Tubbo, Phil, Roier, Pac, Tommy, etc to care, I want justification for the respect I have given, fans have given, but they never will because Qsmp was just so fun. And isn’t that all that really matters.
They can destroy their own communities, make them a unsafe, scammy, toxic sludge pile but they’ll never care. They can look their trans audience in the eyes and go well they probably won’t say it again, and then put them on an ad break while asking for new subs.
This is my messy word vomit Im not editting, but yes I guess my point is as long as its still fun as long as they can still make money, it doesn’t matter how morally abhorrent they’ll still do it.
