How could work not be cutting to the bone? It is the only season.
The Wild Geese, Wendell Berry
The Wild Geese Wendell Berry Horseback on Sunday morning, harvest over, we taste persimmon and wild grape, sharp sweet of summerâs end. In timeâs maze over fall fields, we name names that went west from here, names that rest on graves. We open a persimmon seed to find the tree that stands in promise, pale, in the seedâs marrow. Geese appear high over us, pass, and the sky closes. Abandon, as in love or sleep, holds them to their way, clear, in the ancient faith: what we need is here. And we pray, not for new earth or heaven, but to be quiet in heart, and in eye clear. What we need is here.

Can a process be any different
without the headaches
and the sadness?
A feeling of impending doom
is as ridiculous as the lethargy.

Of work and conflict
That I was sinking into a damp bed
That there was a machine in the air outside my door

To The People Who Are Dishonest in Out of Office Auto Replies (11/30)
It is acceptable to say âI am out of the office and will not check my emailâ but instead, you insist on telling us that you have âlimited internet accessâ insinuating that this is the only reason you wonât reply as if youâd check your email every fifteen minutes of vacation if not for those pesky technological barriers as if suddenly weâre all back in 1997 and an internet cafe is the only way for us to connect with the outside world when weâre away on vacation but I know itâs not 1997 because Chumbawambaâs Tubthumper isnât popular anymore and your phone has internet. and McDonaldâs has internet. and your Grandma probably has the internet and I understand there are still some places with limited access, but youâre traveling to New York, Steve.
