the extended atla franchise is really proof for why an IP-based approach to art does not work because while it is true that michael dante dimartino and bryan konietzko Created atla, it should be clear from the quality of the rest of the installments in the franchise with their name/stamp of approval on it that they were not the deciding factor in the quality of the original show. in fact, many if not Most of the series best episodes were written by head writer aaron ehasz and his then-wife elizabeth welch. neither of theses two have the Right to make more avatar even though they're a big part of what Made It in the first place.

ehasz then went out to put out 'the dragon prince' for netflix which was not a show i was crazy about but i think i feel pretty confident in calling it better than legend of korra.

now what's also notable about this situation is that ehazs is a notorious enough misogynist to have a section of his wikipedia page devoted to his alleged professional mistreatment of women

elizabeth on the other hand has absolutely no presence online whatsoever. ATLA is her only writing credit. She wrote eight episodes of the show including Zuko Alone, The Avatar and the Fire Lord, and The Southern Raiders. She and aaron are now also divorced.

Now, if you know anything about how misogynist male creatives working in the same field as their wives operate, then you can probably reach the same conclusion I have. If a man is willing to treat female coworkers like his nanny and assistant as a baseline, imagine what he feels entitled to expect from a female coworker that is also his wife. I would not be surprised if much of the work on ATLA that ehasz was able to build his career off of would not have been nearly as good without a lot of behind the scenes assistance from elizabeth.

so of the 4 people mentioned here, the one with the absolute least claim of any entitlement to the Intellectual Property of the avatar franchise is overwhelmingly likely to be the most responsible for the meaningful character and narrative writing that caused ATLA to even earn enough accolades to be worth franchising in the first place.

i think it's quite unrealistic the way the series never mentioned the real life realistic danger that EAH students especially the royalty ones will face, like yknow? stuffs like kidnapped, mugged, attempted murder etc etc, or perhaps the only threats they world have is the evil queen and her minions? lol (idk about the books thou, because i haven't read all of them)

There is this line from Snow White in The Unfairest Of Them All that pretty much explain why no One is concerned with this topic:

If there's one character who truly suffers from the religious trauma that people associate with Apple, it's Ashlynn and Hunter. But that's a topic of debate for another time.

Back to the OG Thesis: It's true, some bad guys behaviors could still cause harm, but there's a big difference between "I have to stay in this uncomfortable situation for work for a maximum of a months and then that's it" and "I'm living in a horrible situation that I don't know if it will ever end."

The original Snow White, Rapunzel, Briar Rose and others truly experienced the terror of their condition because from their POV there is no escape. But what about Apple, Holly, Briar, and the others? They know it's just a temporary situation.

And this is not to diminish the trauma that many characters would suffer: Cedar is a rebel precisely because she finds it "useless" to have to suffer for what is a basic right, that is, to be human. But if you are in a protagonist position,a ROYAL position,you know your stakes are much lower

Okay, it's time for me to reveal to the masses my theory about how Dumptys came to be: I believe they were created by the Goose that Laid the Golden Eggs!

To put it very briefly, I think it's like this: There's a farmer who owns the goose that lays golden eggs. At a certain point, the goose hatches an egg that isn't one of his classic eggs, but is Humpty Dumpty.

early/shannon hale raven and faybelle are much more similar than they realize. like mentioned here, they both love their mothers despite their unconventional upbringing. like how raven starts at the beginning of the series, fay seems like she’s lonely and was also raised with a lot of pressure from her mother to succeed. they also both seem to cope with their problems using isolation (raven folds in on herself and fay closes herself then lashes out). but raven gets out from under her mother’s influence when she’s arrested. raven eventually finds confidence in herself outside of her mother and makes new friends. she wants to make her own future for herself, even if she doesn’t know what that will look like. fay is very confident in herself and knows what she wants, but a lot of that is being under mother’s guidance. she wants to be a villian LIKE her mother, wants to redeem the family legacy FOR her mother. shes constantly trying to prove herself to everyone else including her mother. part of the reason why i think she acts like this is because her mother deprives her emotionally, leaving fay to make up for that. but there could be multitudes of reasons for this

In a way, I think this is because the dark fairy was very good at making Faybelle an extension of herself, unlike the evil queen. In a certain sense, Faybelle is in the same situation as Kitty, with a mother who is positioned as a pedestal to be reached because she was good at selling herself as the best to aspire to.

However, another element of difference is the choice of ways of isolation: Fay is essentially surrounded by Goons, and her only equal friend is Duchess; who realistically does not threaten her power.
