Cleo and Deuce because spookie season is near and i love theme đđ§ż
do you have headcanons for the characters of ever after high "ideal type" when it comes to people they would think are attractive?
People we have canon basis for:
Judging from the books, Raven's type seems very clear to me: tall, dark-haired, light-eyed, slender, and possibly with strong ideals.
Apple isn't attracted to Daring for obvious reasons, but she still recognizes him as a handsome man; so I think she's attracted to that archetype in womenâlight-eyed, and very muscular. She looks for a decisive and determined character in a partner.
Daring also seems to have a type, and they're clearly brunettes with a decisive and resolute temperament. I think he was slightly attracted to Apple, but for Freudian reasons.
Ashlynn has explicitly said that her role model is the lumberjack: so tall and burly, muscular but of the "worker" type, kind and gentle, but capable of being decisive when necessary. He hates blondes.
Hunter is an old-school man in that sense: light-haired/light-eyed, angelic face, maternal disposition, and yes... firm breasts but broad hips, which indicates good health! Pre-Raphaelite ideal of beauty. Short, preferably. Essential requirements: wants to start a family.
Dexter, I'd say, is tall, very thin, and brunette. Small breasts and dark eyes. (Ironically, this means Duchess might be his type.)
Darling, I'd say, is aiming for the High Femme, mainly for compensation (she can play the part of the Prince). Dedicated to her goals, a bit naive. Glasses are a turn-on, as is being curvy (yes, I'd also include Ginger in the mix because I imagine her not being super skinny).
Sparrow, as we know, has mommy issues, so the girls he tries out for compensate for that: red hair, green eyes, but unlike his mother, they're loving and maternal. However, I think he also has a weakness for tall, brunette women.
Cerise favors strong, decisive characters and strong, athletic builds. She wants a pack leader.
Rosabella and Lizzie, unfortunately, have the same type: blonde, blue eyes, sculpted features, athleticism, and a strong creative flair.
Duchess is attracted to emotionally unavailable men, capable only of hurting her...and tall. She has no preference for color, but I think she prefers a "classic" type of male beauty, like Daring's.
Hopper is attracted to tall, charismatic, and party-loving dark-haired men - a description that fits both Briar and her friends; draw your own conclusions.
Ginger has the ideal of the ephebe. I don't think she's particularly attracted to Hopper's personality, it's simply her physical type.
Holly is blonde, blue eyes, and has a heroic, princely personality; because she's a woman of few pretensions. Poppy prefers the "beautiful and damned" but with strong morals (which is why she doesn't get along with Sparrow).
Cupid doesn't have a type, she's just very hormonal.
Given the different species, I can't really give a take on Bunny and Alistair.
Speculations:
Faybelle prefers fairy creatures. So wings, colored hair, and large breasts (to compensate for her lack of breasts).
Briar is into blondes. Her homoerotic attraction to Apple makes me speculate that she prefers curvy women.
Okay, here's a confession: I think Blondie is attracted, physically speaking, to Sparrow in the show! Maybe it's the scene in DG. So yes, I think Blondie's type is tall with green eyes. Ditto for Melody after the diaries.
Cedar, Kitty, and Maddie don't seem to interest me in any kind of relationship, so I don't know where to put them.
I'm really mad at the ATLA movie for bringing the ship wars back. I DON'T CARE. I DON'T CARE IF YOU THINK KATAANG IS WEAK OR ZUTARA IS CRINGE OR ZUKKA IS DELUSIONAL WISH FULFILLMENT!!
Go back to talking about Sokka/Suki being hilarious and adorable. Go back to the toxic ass Azula/Mai/Ty Lee situation. Go back to more or less ignoring romance in Avatar in favor of rewriting Legend of Korra and speculating on various events that got us from ATLA to Korra. Go back to shitposting about Sokka the university professor. I don't fucking care about your ship war, I just want it to ennnnndddd leave me beeeee
The thing that bothers me most is that in my opinion, the most important FRIENDSHIP relationships were lost in Ship War - Regardless of the romantic undertones, Aang/Katara and Zuko/Katara are PLATONIC relationships based on respect, and it seems that to give validity to one, the other is cancelled out.
The film then has other problems, first and foremost the whitewashing of the characters' ethnic characteristics. Karara is objectively no longer Innuit by now.

Moving here because It's a long post: My problem with Dragon Game is that in a way is kinda actually try to justify Apple's bullshit. Let me explain - Apple in DG do her biggest fucks up to this point, but it's also the only time Apple's selfishness is portrayed as sympathetic because "her mom is abusive and evil." In fact, if you notice, people now only talk about how Snow White is abusive, and therefore Apple is justified in being a shitty person for a good portion of the show. Conversely, I've often read that "At least Raven is loved by her mother,so she's the actual selfish one" when we know full well that the Evil Queen was an abusive and narcissistic parent.
I think that Snow (and EQ too) should have been shown earlier on in the story cause yeah, Snow's treatment of her daughter explains the way Apple behaves she does, HOWEVER I think the movie doesn't do a very good job at making her sympathetic, especially if you tune in to Epic Winter where we see the ONLY person being punished is Faybelle (Granted Raven most likely didn't tell anyone that Apple set her mom free but still, yet another special where Apple gets a slap in the wrist the end of the day)
As for the way the fandom views Snow vs EQ's treatment towards their own daughters, I do remember bring this up on twitter and it boils down to three factors:
1. The movie itself tries to make us feel bad for EQ when Raven talks about how she doesn't want to be like her while she's in her Mira disguise, and then it pans out to Mira/EQ making sad faces (I mean girl what did you expect she even told you that on your face at the very beginning of the movie) Plus they mostly lean in the "cool villain with aura" thing with EQ, which (unintentionally?) Tries to downplay the bad shit she does on the movie by showing her like that
2. Apple and Raven have different reactions to their moms' abuse. Which is obvious since they have different personalities, views and ways they were raised, but the average person thinks that victims of abuse all act the same, which leads onto what im gonna say:
People fail to recognize Raven as a victim of her mom's abuse because she doesn't let herself be manipulated by EQ's tactics. She knows her mom is unreliable and a bad person and the only times she gives into her words is where she has no other choice (like when she joins the Dragon Games lineup) So because of her not being fooled by her mom, people think that EQ is not a shit abusive mom
Whereas with Apple is the opposite, she genuinely believes that her mom has her best interest at heart, because she has no one in her life who taught her different (unlike Raven with her dad) and thus since she does fall for her mom's lies, people feel for her and symphatize with her unlike Raven, which is stupid as hell since Raven having a terrible mother is clear as day
3- Snow and EQ's portrayals. In Dragon Games our first impression of Snow is that she's fake and superficial, only thinking about her status and popularity of her and her daughter's and characters like that obviously don't tend to be liked. However, EQ doesn't try hiding who she really is, she'd authentic about being a terrible person, so nobody really expects nothing good coming from her, and the few times she shows "love" for Raven, people go "aw despite being evil she still loves her daughter" which is also dumb as hell, you can love your child while still be abusive
So yeah :/ TLDR I don't like how so many people feel for Apple but turn a blind eye at Raven also being a victim of her mom's abuse
I think GRRM does recognize that Danyâs relationship with Drogo was traumatic despite the good she was able to derive from it (the latter is also unsurprising given the comparative agency this relationship afforded her after Viserysâs tyranny). Her dragons figure in the scene from ASOS when sheâs rediscovering her sexuality after Drogoâs death, something she never thought would happen, and itâs probably no accident that the one named after him becomes a literal bĂȘte noire with which she has to contend in ADWD, leading to their quite suggestively described first flight together
(ADWD, Daenerys IX)
Drogo and Hizdahr are slave owners and her marriages to both of them evoke this, and out in the countryside with Drogon sheâs beginning to reclaim both her politics of liberation and her personal autonomy after chaining the dragons and making concessions to the slavers, starting by facing down another threat of rape and enslavement by a rival khalasar led by a man who once facilitated the rape and murder of a slave sheâd tried her best to save
(ADWD, Daenerys X)
(AGOT, Daenerys IX)
(AGOT, Daenerys I)
(ADWD, Daenerys VII)
In other words, one of the things Danyâs dragons represent is her sexuality, and thus Drogon becoming a frightening monster who allegedly kills a little girl reflects in part the sexual trauma inflicted upon 13-year-old Dany by his namesake. In reckoning with him she is on the path to leaving behind her all-too-familiar second marriage and the concession to the slavers that it represents, because the dragons are also a means of liberating herself and others from subjugation
Wait now i have to ask you: How did you immagine the cast while reading the book (and before you watched the show)?
umm okay i was like 8 so i barely remember but
- Hunter had a lot more hair (and looked taller and buffer idk)
- Daringâs hair was def paler, like canon Darlingâs. âhair so blond it was almost whiteâ and all that
- Darling herself i pictured tall and willowy and more⊠idk tragic looking (?) i remember being so gobsmacked when she was officially revealed like omg! she has a beauty mark?!
- Cedar was blue
- Sparrow was cute. i was not impressed by his canon design like what is that goatee
- Humphrey was like⊠an actual egg
- Helga and Gus were little kids in my mind before they were revealed in canon. like i imagined them as primary schoolers idk why
i know a few like the OâHairs, Faybelle, and some others were introduced in books first but their canon image is all that i remember.

Lost it at Maid Marion.
Okay, but itâs actually super-important that Claire Hummel changed the portrait of Pocahontas after being criticized by native activists for the first Pocahontasâs age/sexualization etc.Â
Re-blogging again for updated Pocahontas.
I think a weak point of Ever After High as a show and the reason why I think the fandom sucks at handling the Royal-Rebel conflict is that
EAH put way too much emphasis on the Royals. ESPECIALLY in the specials.
Like yeah you had Raven, and sometimes you would get stuff focused on Cerise or Cedar but for the most part, most of the character stuff happens with Royals. We have Apple, Briar, Ashlynn, Blondie, the Charmings, Lizzie. So much of the focus is on the people who are at the top(aka rich). Even the only Rebel that gets significant attention is rich as well being the daughter of the Evil QUEEN and the Good KING
