Teaching Portfolio & Student Teaching
Hi everyone. This is my first post in literally years but I didn’t know where else to turn for help on this one. I am suffering from EXTREME anxiety about my teaching portfolio and student teaching.
I’m starting my student teaching on January 2nd and as of right now I have maybe two outfits that are suitable for teaching. I got paid this morning and after paying my bills I have $8 in my bank account.
I am presenting my portfolio next Monday (December 17th) and I’m not finished with it yet. I’m terrified that I’ll either not finish or finish just in time and have no time to review it and when it comes time to present I’ll have no idea what I’m talking about. I’m great on paper but terrible at speaking.
I’m student teaching at the school I attended for High School and the attached middle school that I did not attend but have done observations in. My first host teacher is a teacher I had my Freshman year and the second host teacher is a teacher I never personally had but I have done observations in her classroom. I’m so nervous about being in front of a class and being an authority figure to people who are barely younger than I am.
In addition to this I had the dates wrong when I gave my notice at my current job and when applying to a new job (at a business I used to work at) so now my boss and I are both scrambling to find a replacement for me as it is literally impossible for me to do both my job and my student teaching.
Honestly all I’m looking for is any and all advice, words of encouragement, tips, ideas, anything on how to figure out this situation. Anything helps. Thanks in advance.
