Florida Beach Communities Try To Ban Shark Fishing
City council members across many Florida beach communities are trying to purpose a ban on fishing for shark from local beaches. These communities are proposing that people not be allowed to fish for shark within 100 feet of the shoreline to keep swimmers and surfers safe. Although some communities have already passed similar measures it is said that such regulations can not be established by city councils but must rather be issued by the Florida Wildlife Commission. Many anglers feel that if cities continue to issue these bans on fishing shark that they will lose their sport based not on scientific fact but rather out of human fear.
Studies have been conducted that show that there is not a strong connection between fishing for sharks from the beach and an increase in shark attacks on humans. With these cities not focusing on scientific data and by overstepping their rights they are hurting anglers that enjoy fishing. Under the proposed regulations people caught violating the shark fishing ban can be citied and fined by courts in amounts up to $500. These bans would accomplish little since there are already very restrictive regulations in place regarding fishing shark.
Anglers are angry and for good reason, these bans would push fishermen to areas that can only be reached by boat. By pushing fishing grounds for sharks off shore fishermen would be caused to either have to buy a boat or quite fishing. I personally don’t think that it is fair to the fishermen that they aren’t allowed to fish from the shore. The sharks will continue to be in the water regardless of the fishermen, it’s not like the fishermen are bringing in sharks that aren’t naturally in the area. These fishermen are simply catching sharks that are chasing schools of fish that swim up and down the shoreline.
Not only would this ban discourage people from fishing from shore but when does it stop? Soon will all fishing from shore be banned because hooks might injury someone? What about the lost revenues from fishing tackle, bait, and other items that is associated with these shark fishermen? Although I understand the need to keep surfers and swimmers safe I’m not sure if a complete ban on shark fishing from the shore will actually accomplish anything. It seems to me that a better idea would be to establish restrictions on when and where they can fish. By using time slots or restricted areas you can be insured that sharks aren’t coming to beaches during high traffic times. Also by imposing restriction you are causing equal inconvenience for both swimmers and fishermen.

Cold Steel Recon One Tactical Knives
The Cold Steel Recon One folding tactical knife is the ultimate in durability and usefulness that is hard to beat. Designed from the ground up as a knife that will out perform almost all other tactical folders on the market these knives are great for cutting through a lot of different materials. Every Cold Steel Recon One comes straight from Cold Steel with a razor sharp edge that will last through the toughest conditions.
Made from AUS 8A steel that is high in carbon and low in chromium these Recon One’s are tough, strong, have great edge holding ability, and are resistance to corrosion. Another feature that makes the Cold Recon One unique from other tactical folders is that they have a Triad locking mechanism. The Triad locks are designed to withstand great amounts of pressure without breaking. With extra space in the Triad Lock your knife will continue to operate safely even after long periods of use. The entire knife is held together with high strength mechanical fasteners that are heat treated for long lasting durability.Â
Other great features of the Cold Steel Recon One are a scaled G10 handle that is contoured to your hand for a great non-slip grip. A black Teflon coating on the blades of the Recon One not only helps to keep you hidden from unwanted reflections but it also serves as a lubricant making the knife slide through a variety of materials easily. In order to meet the needs of several different tactical situations Cold Steel offers the Recon One in 2 blade configurations and 2 edge types. The different blade designs on the Recon One’s makes finding your next knife a breeze.
Cold Steel Recon I Tanto
