Making the most of a weak Summer swell | St. Augustine, FL
To wrap up the trip. We had a park ranger jump our car with an external battery, while up in the Guadalupe Mountains National Park. That got us all the way until about 30 miles West of New Orleans, LA where sadly the truck broke down again... 7 hours and 1,100 dollars later she was ready to get back on the road and finally finish off the drive to St. Augustine, FL. On the bright side, no one got hurt and the loss of money will eventually be laughed off in a good story. | Big Bend, Carlsbad Caverns, Guadalupe Mountains National Park road trip. Spring 2015

Still a little surreal, dipping back below the clouds with the frost still heavy on the trees. Descending the Guadalupe Peak. | Guadalupe Mountains National Park, Spring 2015

One of the most beautiful sights. As far the eye can see, just clouds stretching across the entire horizon with the only the occasional mountain peak breaking through. | Guadalupe Mountains National Park

The trail up to the peak. At this point we were beginning to reach a high enough elevation to begin to put us on top of the snow clouds. | Guadalupe Mountains National Park, Spring 2015

Here's what we found when we woke up, snow in Texas! My truck had completely died, so we left a note for the park ranger not to tow us, and we continued to hike from here to climb to the tallest point in Texas | Guadalupe Mountains National Park
Preparing to meet the polar vortex in Texas. Expected night time temperatures hitting the mid 20's with a wind chill dipping below 10 degrees. | Guadalupe Mountains National Park
