Well, if we want to get technical, Peter Cushing was actually instructed to call himself ‘Doctor Who’ in the movies he starred in to promote the series as if it was the name of the character as the title.

Anyone who watched the series after having their interest caught by ‘Doctor Who’ would eventually catch on that it’s just ‘The Doctor’

Wasn’t he “Doctor Who” in the credits until Four or something? I mean, I guess that doesn’t change the fact that he’s been just “The Doctor” ever since, but it’s not such an unforgivable sin…

He could be referring to something general from the series. As in, “Oh look, it’s a Doctor Who poster.” And he’s Doctor Who, as in the current face of the series.

This makes sense to me because when I see a commercial for Doctor Who and Matt Smith is on the screen, my first thought is, “Look, Doctor Who” and not “Hey, it’s the Doctor.” I think of the show before the character.

I’ve only just begun my studies into the language of Gallifreyan, to be honest. I was looking through the various guides that I’ve collated, and decided on something. A four letter word, the symbols of which weren’t too complicated on their own, but together, the image they formed was one of true beauty. As I was drawing this, I could picture it. Picture it in its full meaning, its entirety, in everything it symbolises in the world. And it’s perfect. Pure, utter perfection. I’ll definitely be trying more Gallifreyan, but no word could be as beautiful to observe as this one.
