anyone else experiencing problems with GIFs not playing properly?

they'll play fine on blog view (example) the gifs will load and play for me there

but in dashboard view of the same gifset here it will load the gifs but then not play them unless i click then it plays when clicked on in lightbox view but still only in the lightbox view (the gif is still not playing in the background outside the lightbox) and it's still the case once i exit the lightbox view

(also it's not my browser or extensions causing this cause i tried different browsers and disabling all extensions and asked my brother who's on a different device and browser and he had the same problem but wondering if more people do too. i've also messaged tumblr support already so hopefully it'll be fixed soon.)

got an email back from tumblr support staff quite quickly with the solution that worked for me:

"We recently made a change that will prevent GIFs from autoplaying if you have chosen to enable reduced motion/reduced animation settings on your device.

Here's where you can check those settings, depending on your device/operating system:

In Windows 10: Settings > Ease of Access > Display > Show animations in Windows.

In Windows 11: Settings > Accessibility > Visual Effects > Animation Effects.

In macOS: System Settings > Accessibility > Display > Reduce motion.

In iOS: Settings > Accessibility > Motion.

In Android 9+: Settings > Accessibility > Remove animations."
