I started playing HSR again and I'm still Amadeus Cho pilled so here's a bunch of yapping about what faction he might fit into or at least be interested in!
I started thinking about Herta and the first thought that came to mind was oh my god what if Amadeus Cho was in the Genius Society. You know, he IS a top 10 genius in the marvel universe (though his specific placement can be debated..). Yet after thinking it through I remembered Dr. Ratio who honestly I see a lot more similarities with HIM and Amadeus than I do with the Society members with Amadeus. Which is heartbreaking. Not saying that Amadeus CAN’T be in the Society, but just breaking down how the Society operates its just sort of clear it doesn’t align with him ENTIRELY. They’re hoarders of knowledge, Amadeus, I feel would detest that, similar to how Ratio does.
One, the Genius Society is more like a long distance club than anything else. All of the members have little to no connection to each other UNLESS they choose to. They could very well just operate entirely on their own without ever having an interaction with other members. Second, they’re very individualistic people who are more often than not are simply asocial/lone wolves. Some still do hold a semblance of empathy or want to connect and help others (say, Screwllum), but theres a lot more people with their screws loose. They either don’t care about each other, hate each other, or kill each other. With very few far and in-between actually having collaborations (Ruan Mei, Screwllum, and Herta). Not to mention Genius Society members are very driven towards their (usually) ONE want/goal/drive without any care for anything that won’t help them achieve this. Herta won’t give a single care what happens to anything or anybody if it doesn’t interest or prove useful to her in that moment. Ruan Mei is a biologist driven by creating life/reversing death (which what caused her to be gazed upon by Nous I think), and when her creations even If they do succeed or come to life… she has abandoned them.
So in that sense, even if Nous has gazed upon/acknowledged Amadeus in that sense, I doubt he would be apart of to the Genius Society. This is proven to be possible with Herta, who was a follower and emanator of the Erudition for quite some time before she finally was accepted in to the Genius Society. Even fucking Stephen Lloyd as sweet and adorable as he is and I love him, with the genius he has DOES NOT GIVE A FUCK about other people. He is not interested in sharing his finds or hell any of his genius at all. How unlucky he was acknowledged by Nous then, now everyone knows him and he hates that.
With that I come to the conclusion that Amadeus Cho would most likely be in the Intellegensia Guild, even if I really-really-really want him to be in the Genius Society. I’ll explain why he would be in the Intellegensia Guild further though.
For one, the Guild is open to quite literally anyone interested in knowledge and learning and heavily values sharing finds with others as to pursue to more discoveries. Even Dr. Ratio as cold as he is, is still a teacher and is quite empathetic in my eyes at least. The Guild is much more appropriate for someone like Cho, as not only looking at his role in the Marvel universe as a SUPERHERO. But how he acts, yes he can be quite selfish, egotistical and impulsive at times but thats more towards his immaturity and young age over anything else.
Now I’m wondering how a hypothetical interaction would be between him and Ratio. Would be respected or just ignored by the members of the Genius Society, hell vice versa too, would he care for any of the Genius Society members? Would he want to be associated with the Society?
