there is something genuinely wrong with you. wtf do u mean ur favorite ao3 tag is RAPE????? you even admitted that you were never SA’d, you’ll never know the pain and the trauma that comes from it. and your over here romanticizing it, writing fics abt it as if its some sort of cute little thing that happens, as if its doesn’t ruin lives and being people to the point of suicide!!! i truly hope that you become more considerate and get the help that you clearly need.
may I ask if you think there’s also something wrong with people who like horror or slasher movies? because the characters mostly get brutally and graphically murdered (or at the very least severely wounded and traumatized) in those movies, and in-real-life murders ruin lives, also in-real-life trauma can bring people to the point of suicide!!!
(people who like slasher movies have never been murdered, and they don’t have to have gone through a situation where they were almost murdered in order to enjoy these films, so they were never victims, they can’t know the pain and the trauma of being murdered, being attacked by a serial killer, or having their loved ones murdered or attacked by a serial killers.)
what about video games that depict violence, blood and gore then? people enjoy these too. and in-real-life violence, blood and gore ruin lives
and what about people who like movies that are about wars? in-real-life wars ruin lives. there are people who like war movies, who have never actually fought in wars.
or is it only “wrong and not okay” for you when it comes to things you personally hate, which in this case, is fictional non-con?
one day you’re going to realize that, in fandom and fantasy space, people can and do enjoy horror and macabre for the sake of horror and macabre, and no, nobody needs to fit any specific criteria in order to enjoy dark and taboo art. the point is that it’s fiction and fantasy, and whether or not you like it, some people can and do indulge in dark fantasies — again, the point of it is that these things stay fantasies.
one day you’re also going to realize some couples do engage in a sexual role play, where one of them is a victim and the other a predator, during sex. it’s called cnc. and the party who pretends to rape their partner, with their partner’s full consent, is not an actual rapist in-real-life, they’re both just indulging in their consensual fantasies. the point: both parties consent, and they are fantasies.
the same applies to fanfiction and fan art, and anything that is fiction.
no one in real life actually gets hurt or harmed in any way because some people somewhere have dark and taboo fantasies.
“but it’s bad and it’s something that happens in real life and there are victims —” people who are triggered by these things don’t even have to be exposed to other people’s fantasies at all. these taboo fantasies are something that are enjoyed in private. that’s why ao3 has tagging systems, and that is so that people who don’t like these things can safely avoid these things (also people who like these things can easily find these things). the only people who consume these things do so on their own free will, with their full consent. because these people like horror and macabre in fiction, and there’s nothing wrong with that.
fanfiction, or any other form of art, that depict rape do have consent in them: the artists consent to creating these art, and the readers, the audience, consent to reading/consuming these art. all parties consent to being exposed to this dark fantasy.
just because you don’t like people who enjoy taboo fiction doesn’t mean there’s actually something wrong with people who enjoy taboo fiction.
people can like something in fiction while fully understanding that the things they like in fiction are bad in real life. it’s called Being Able to Separate Fiction from Reality.
*and if someone can’t separate fiction from reality, then the issue is their own inability to separate fiction from reality, not their enjoyment of taboo art or the existence of taboo art.
people are going to like, consume and create art that you hate, and your fandom experience will just suck if you can’t curate your own internet experience by blocking, muting, filtering out things that upset you (I do this, and I never have to see things that I dislike).
it’s so much fun to just focus your time and energy on things you do like instead of trying to tell and convince strangers they are wrong for enjoying fictional things that disgust you.
if you don’t mind, I’ll have to excuse myself and go write more fics where my favorite fictional character is getting brutally violated now.
