Why I admire @therealjacksepticeye:
Why I admire @therealjacksepticeye: he stands up for the mistakes he does and apologizes, rather than try to pretend it never happened, until it blows over. That’s something not a lot of people do, especially regarding social media. One more reason why I have so much respect for him.
I’ve watched his videos for more than 5 years now. Admittedly, I used to watch them every day up until a few months ago. It has nothing to do with him or the content, rather than me simply not finding the time anymore. I’ve always been a quiet part of the community, though still proud to be nevertheless.
I’ve watched him as a person, the channel and the community grow over the years, and while there have been times where I didn’t agree with certain things, it never changed my view I had on him or the community. I still think that the community is one of the nicest ones out there, even if it changed quite a bit over the years. And even though I sadly don’t find the time to keep up-to-date with everything like I used to, I’m still proud and happy to be apart of the journey.
Putting everything in perspective, all the stress, anxiety and hard work, which comes with maintaining a “reputation” and keeping people happy on social media, I have to say that Seán deserves nothing but respect. In my opinion, he’s handling things well and even when he slips up (like human beings do, because no one’s perfect), he owns up to it and even handles that well.
I can just imagine how much stress someone has to be under, knowing there are millions of people watching and reading into everything one does. And doing it for years, while still keeping the same positive message, is impressive to me.
And I’m so proud of Seán for doing it. I know, social media can be an ugly place, but he never stops trying to make it a little better and for that I tip my hat. I know, I couldn’t do it, even if I tried.
In all means, this is not an attempt to “blow smoke up Seán’s ass.” I just want to give credit where credit is due. And having seen the changes he, the channel and this community went through, and knowing how easy it is to tear yourself down due to stress, anxiety or pressure, I just felt like voicing my opinion on this.
No one is perfect and it’s unfair to expect someone to be, because they’re well known on social media and/or have a huge following. At the end of the day, behind every screen is a human being made out of the same bone structure and skin like everyone else. I get that it’s easy to forget something like that because it’s just on a screen, yet we should try to remind ourselves of that.
People mess up, make mistakes, but that’s okay. What matters is how they deal with it and I can truly say that there has never been a time in the 5+ years, where I was disappointed with how Seán handled a situation. I disagreed, yes, but as soon as he explained his reasoning, I understood and could move past it, which is one of the many reasons why I’m still here after all those years.

I always appreciate the banter that goes on between Seán and Fans especially At his panels. It’s so funny to see us try and stump him, or go at him with a little bit of attitude and sass only for him to dish it right back at us 😂
