A Pretentious Ramble About Fingers In His Ass Sunday

I’ve heard people say that Kokichi and Jevil should be the new DR x Undertale meme crackship. TBH though, I don’t really think it would work. Kokich and Jevil are both great characters in (most) great games, but that’s not enough to elevate them to the absolute legend status that Sans and Komaeda have. Sans and Komaeda are characters with history in their fandoms. They’ve been on a journey. When you say “Jevil,” you’re invoking the images of his rad as hell boss fight, his memorable quotes, his relavence to the lore of the game, and maybe even the silly voice overs some people do of him. But that’s all there really is. The guys got memes and fans, but their sorta basic. Simple, derrived directly and only from what the character is. Similarly, when you say “Kokichi,” you may be invoking his interesting dynamics with the rest of the cast, his scary ass sprites, and maybe some fangirly Saioma images, but yet again, that’s kinda it.
But “Sans” is different. When you say Sans, you’re invoking the power of a hundred fan comics, AUs, and fanart depicting him as way more badass than he’s actually potrayed, and some of the internet backlash surrounding it. You’re invoking the image of a hundred weird, absurd OC’s made due to his influence. You’re invoking all the weird shit people have done with Megalovania, to the point where even the first beat of the song is enough for people to recognize it. You’re invoking the power of his weird text noises, or the eye thing he does which has been mockingly applied to hundreds of other characters over the years. You’re invoking all the endless speculation about his role in the Undertale lore, and some less then stellar theories about it. It’s gotten to the point where the mere image or name of this man has become a meme in it of itself.
When you say “Nagito,” you’re invoking the image of his strange and bizzare sprites, which have been used, appropriated, and morphed by the community, making him seem even more flamboyant and detached than he really is. You’re invoking his strange, vague luck powers, and how the seem to ascend above all logic, meaning anything can happen. You’re invoking the way his strange, insane views and actions have been interpreted by the community in hundreds of ways. You’re invoking the endless war between KomaHina shippers and HinaNami shippers, which, while I have not seen many, is the most intense ship war I’ve ever seen. You’re invoking the homoerotic subtext in a lot of his actions, and how the community argues way too much about wether he’s actually gay. (im on the side saying he is btw) You’re invoking all the weird 3d animation AMVs starring him. It’s gotten to the point where seeing this character anywhere needs no context at all. It’s not abouthow he got there, it’s about what he’s doing there.
Even if you don’t know about these aspects of the characters, it’s still eveident somehow that they’re there, you just don’t know what they are.
But most importantly, when you say either of these characters’ names, you’re invoking
