Rain Came, and then Shadows Directed by: Conor O'Brien "An Irish woman living in Australia has become disconnected from the world around her. Through dreams and memories, she attempts to connect once more to a feeling of home." On our first production meeting, Conor and I shared stories about when we first moved to Melbourne. The script spoke sincerely to my own experience about coming home for Christmas; Iâd yearn to reconnect with old friends, visit my old shops, return to my old playparkâbut time changes things. Rain Came, and then Shadows is a story about home. What it means; and how does someone regain that sense of âhomeâ after being away for so long. If like me, youâve since moved to another country and one day returned feeling like a stranger in your own neighbourhoodâI think youâll really like this film. STATMAN Directed by: Thomas Kerrigan âAmidst the battle between good and evil, everyday accountant Simon Stevens discovers that not every hero has to be super.â Tom and I were both, coincidentally, writing a super hero script before we met. It was when we sat down for the first time that I was taken in by the heart of his script and I was convinced âwe have to go with this oneâ. STATMAN is the type of hero story I love to read, and want to tell even more so. Heroes come in all kinds of packages, and the measure of your worth isnât based on your talents but how theyâre used to help people. If youâre looking for something fresh from the slew of Marvel films going around, youâll enjoy this film and the characters in it even more. Sur Place Directed by: Sarah Bailey âA friendship, a furniture store, and a jungle patterned dresser inspire two women to see the value of following their dreamsâ Sarah caught me running to hand in an assignment one morning: âBefore you go, would you be interested in producing this film with us?â Thatâs literally how this one started. Sur Place touches on an area Iâve long struggled to express: that friends help you move forward. In moments of doubt, our ambitions erode over timeâand itâs with the help of caring friends that weâre encouraged to keep moving and follow our dreams. If you enjoy appreciating the mis en scene and visual language of films, I think youâll really love watching every scene weâve shot. Happy #easter Everyone! Hope nobodyâs gotten sick from too much chocolate. Lily is in full recovery, smashing all of her #personalgrowth goals lately, and ya boi couldnât be a more proud #plantdad đ±âșïž
Our house plant Lily didnât make it through the Melbourne heatwave this summer. But sheâs a tough cookie, after we trimmed her dead stalks and leaves, now ready to get her SHINE on for another year of #personalgrowth đ± (Insert something cheesy about the plant being a metaphor for starting over, never giving up, shoddy plant parenting etc) #plantdad #shesback #justdoyourbest
Working with child actors (let alone a dozen at once) is amazing because you get to handle absurd levels of energy, unbridled personalities, and a full day's work. The challenge of working with child actors is that you have to handle absurd levels of energy, unbridled personalities, and a full day's work. The secret?: a little bit of candy + a good ego boost goes a long way. #film #filmmaker #cinema #indie #kids #life #student
It had been a year since I last visited Thelma at the aged care home and, to my suprise, she remembered me. "I feel like I should know you" "I'm Joe, we've met before" "You help Jen at the book shop, don't you?" "I do, from time to time" "It's been almost a year, hasn't it?" "See, you do remember." "Well someone likes to take their time don't they?" Always a pleasure, Thelma <3 #love #old #alzheimers #rose
This is a jobs pamphlet by the ABC issued in 1934 entitled "Careers for Girls". The intro to Section 1 reads: "The material in this section has been repeated from the booklet 'Careers for Boys'. In these professions girls must, on the whole, compete with boys on equal terms" The 1930s had their own problems and weren't anywhere near perfect, but it's really uplifting to know that people then were trying. #rarebook #equality #anzaab #australia

Note to Self: General Life Tips
Dear Joe,
Every now and then you seem to lose your stride, and often times it spirals out of hand. Hereâs some things to get you back on your feet next time around.
Productivity is key. Youâre happiest when youâre productive.
1) Just go do the laundry. It takes like 5 minutes to dump all the clothes in, put some soap, and start the machine. Trust me, youâll feel better.
2) While thatâs happening, take out the trash. It takes like 5 minutes. Trust me, youâll feel better.
3) Then go do the dishes, 10 minutes tops. Trust me, youâll feel better.
Thereâs still a ton more stuff to do, but thatâs plenty for now.Â

DONE. Weâre off to a good start, with most of our coverage thus far consisting of production basics, general business practice, and some general housecleaning.
Hi Everyone, friendly reminder to any fellow history/literature nerds: The University of Melbourne's Wilson Hall hosts the ANZAAB Rare Book Fair every year where we've got heaps of first edition books/prints/manuscripts that are totally worth skipping that next dentist appointment for. We're open til 5pm. If you happen to drop by and come across an Ancient Histories shop with a peculiar focus on Tutenkamun, make sure to greet the friendly disheveled bookseller and bring him some chips because ya boi hasn't had much hot food since Friday âđŒ #rarebook #bookstagram #firstedition (at The University of Melbourne)
I'll be working again at this years #rarebookweek and wanted to share my favorite find from last year~#harrypotter #bookstagram #rarebook #firstedition
