THE FINAL FINAL POSTERÂ .
By everyone
The plan I created adding in the materials for our final sheet.
By Tanicha FarrantÂ
Developing Celine's space
After getting feedback I have developing Celine's space from a dark harsh/scary room with hanging phones which is a bit to literal of the play, to a more lighter space that still represents the different aspects of her character by having distorted mirrored walls which represents her image of being a transgender and how it has hugely changed her look and her reflection of herself and how she is seen by others. The cracks in the floor also represent the cracks and struggles in her life as the floor is slowly falling apart beneath her. Then finally the heart on the plinth is in the centre of the room to show her heart is open and exposed, allowing her to get hurt.Â

Here is our poster nearing completion, we worked toward in our final week of Spatial design for semester 1.Â
This is my final design in the group work, reconsider about the character Fanti in the Postal play, generate a few key words of the character in the previous brainstorm and redesign again.Â
âOppressingâ- In order to create a oppressing feeling to the vistors, in this limited space, I designed it as a tunnul which is super narrow- the concrete square structure penetrate into the ground, ceiling and wall, the interior material I chose my original thinking which is concrete, the colour tone is dark grey, and the concrete made the interiorâs temperature is warm, those are creating a uncomfortable feeling to vistors.
âPowerfulâ- The interior concrete structure is thick which is represent the meaning of strong and powerful.
âManipulatingâ- The interior concrete structure is twisting which is represent the word âcontrolâ to the character.

Getting feedback on the previous design then reconsider about the interior making (material using and the feeling of colour ).Â

After discussed and sorted the measurement and design problem, done the final model and here are some views.

Reworking Celineâs space and also now showing where its located in the site and the view that will be seen through the tiny window her space has to offer. By Tanicha Farrant
Week 5, Class 1
Developing on womanâs space:
Going back to my original idea of the woman running way from her thoughts, I feel that having hanging objects doesnât quite relay the idea of âbeing trapped in your own headâ or ârunning away from your thoughtsâ
An idea that sprung to mind would be to use fog or something that can represent a cloud (of thoughts). Like I portrayed in my first drawings of woman. However, using a fog machine for example, wouldnât contain the fog into a specific area of the room.
Thinking ahead of this, I thought about the effect dry ice has when placed in a glass. Imagining this on a bigger scale i.e. floor to ceiling in the middle of the room would be quite interesting.
I have come up with an almost funnel shape - where the dry ice would be placed in the bottom cylindrical part. To allow for the fog to move up into the larger open space at the top of the structure.
This way people can come into the space, walk around the structure and look up into it.

Using the suncalc.net website, I have produced a series of images depicting how the site currently responds to the sunâs path. Considering the path of the sun is clear that the site receives full sun throughout the day. The southern point of the house seems to be limited regarding direct sunlight it receives which is important to note, although, all of our windows are projected inward which is how the existing structure is laid out it means that the light can effectively be manipulated. The central pool proposed will also receive large quantities of light creating interesting reflections. The upper extension which we are proposing has windows facing toward the south meaning that the direct light may be limited, but it serves as an excellent observational point.  Â

Here is a sectioned view of what we are proposing that was produced in class for a presentation.Â

Development Image .1:Â
I have begun generating ideas for creating interest surrounding the staircase.Â
Development Image .2:Â
This image displays the qualities and layout of the space from a three-dimensional perspective Â
Development Image .3:Â
The simple section I have created here shows the exhibition space relating to one of the female characters involved in the play and the pool which sits in the centre of the site location.
Development Image .4:Â
The entrance way is currently going to consist of the one currently installed in the building, it is located around the back of the building and is positioned up a small flight of stairs. The curtains located in the interior of the space in the proximity of the doorway seal off the exhibition space. This means that once the viewer walks through the curtains, they will be immersed in the space. Â
Development Image .5:Â
The final image is some further idea generating for the section connecting the ground floor to the second floor. We want to make sure that these point in between the exhibition spaces do not break the immersion or interest that the rest of the space conveys. Â Â
Drawing 1: This is my initial concept regarding my given space based on the character âwomanâ.
Drawing 2: This drawing is an exterior view of the site, looking at how the âwomanâsâ part of our site would be seen. In the centre of our site, we have decided to create a body of water to represent a major theme in the play of âunfulfilled dreamsâ. We chose to use a body of water specifically, as one of the characters dreams was to have a house by the beach with his lover. Each section of our site will have windows of some sort, to be able to see through to the water covered area. However, no one will actually be able to physically get to it.
Drawing 3: This is an interior view of the space I have created based on my character âwomanâ. I have used soft and dull materials, as there isnât a specific stand out characteristic that she has. She is sort of just living her life, but not fulfilling it to its best. The hanging plants I have put in the space are what I would like to call âpassive objectsâ. They represent the obstacles and challenges she is facing in her life. But arenât so set in stone or hard to pass by. And this is how I view the obstacles she has in her life.
Drawing 4: This a materials library of all the materials I am wanting to use, to create the space based on the character woman.

Week 4:
Exploring interior and exterior spaces. I have created the connecting part to our site and shown it in its original environment and that the new extension to the building is possible as it will be put on a higher level on top of a hill. Also as we are doing an exhibition space each room will be based on a specific character from the play. I have done my interior on the character of Celine and created a materials library of possible ideas and options which represent her.

A couple of brinstorm based on the character Fanti, in my understanding she is a old lady who is working for a long period in post office, due to she has the rights to rule in the PO, she has a complex characteristic, she is a GOVERN person and POWERFUL to her staffs, EVANGELICAL but always be a POSITIVE person at work. On the other hand she is MANIPULATING, to her college, and give them a kind of OPPRESSING felling.
