Mostly I’m upset because even though the game avatar has an established family life, place of living and employment situation, he’s still supposed to have broad enough of a personality so that the player can immerse himself in the world through their eyes. This does not work if he holds particular views that may conflict with the player.

Also this is why much of the game avatar’s opinions are left for the player to choose from in the other dating paths.

What if the avatar automatically called out the teenagers in the theater in Dustin’s date? Or if the avatar automatically paid for Jax’s broken bottle with no input? Gameplay-wise these are objectively “right” choices, but they become much meaningful when they have been chosen by the player.

Even choices that don’t affect anything at all, such as guessing Dustin’s car, still give the player some input as to how he wants to act without the game just dictating that “your character doesn’t like whiskey, fuck you”.

Blegh, sorry for the rant.

When someone tells you that your smut gets them off, that’s obviously a sign that you’ve done a great job and have achieved the emotional response that porn is supposed to have.

Comments on the technical aspects are of course always welcome, but think of it this way:

When you make art, you’re essentially making an experience. Let’s say, for example, that you’ve scripted and directed a comedic short film that’s around 15 minutes. Would you rather have the audience sit stock still during the showing and afterwards politely say stuff like “I really liked the way you shot the scene with the widescreen lens and panned across the left before fading to black and blah blah blah etc. etc.”? Or would you rather have the audience howling in laughter on every beat until their eyes turn red and gasping for breath, struggling to stand as they tell you how much your jokes made them laugh?

Honestly, if you’re the one drawing porn, you have no right to be a prude when the audience expresses their love for your work.
