They were both blasted with the magic of friendship and learned how to overcome their pasts by Twilight

And they came back to Celestia with regret and remorse.

So seeing this scene in Forgotten Friendship was beautiful…

I just want to point out that Twilight was able to take the hit of a weapon that was infused with the magic of ALL FOUR alicorn princesses which (according to Twilight vs. Tirek) equates to all the ponies in Equestria plus Discord’s chaos magic and she came out fine
