Remember Jonghyun. He’s one of the few idols who stood up and advocated LGBT rights in a country that’s incredibly discriminating and homophobic. He’s the beautiful main vocal with the voice of an angel. Our thought and love are with his colleagues, family, friends and all who ever met him. We can’t begin to imagine what the other boys are going through. We can only continue to support them all through this. His funeral will be kept small and intimate. He will always be loved. Forever and always! RIP Jonghyun, our precious Jjong, 1990-2017 ❤️🙏❤️

My favorite Jonghyun moment was when SHINee was performing Replay at their SHINee World Concert IV in 2015. Towards the end of the song Jonghyun gets choked up and emotional thinking about their career and his life and starts to cry uncontrollably. The crowd and the rest of SHINee continues to sing, but we get a real good glimpse at how sensitive and fragile our Jonghyun really was. 

I miss him so much.

One day I’ll look up at the sky and realize even up there you make my days shine bright; but not today.

He suffered from depression but always made sure we found comfort and healing through his songs. He suffered from insomnia and anxiety but that never stopped him from stepping onstage to perform for us. He fought for LGBT rights. He was an advocate for mental health. He loved his family, his members, his dog, his fans, his job. Lest we forget such a wonderful soul.

You’ve been so brave. You’ve done the best you could. You’ve done so well. I’m so proud of you. Thank you for everything. I feel nothing but love and appreciation for your contribution towards trying to make this world a better place for other people. I’m sorry you had to go this way. My heart goes out to jjong’s family, the SHINee members and my fellow Shawols. Thank you to the medical staff who tried their best to bring back our precious boy, and thank you to the police who responded to Sodam’s distress call, no matter how late. 수고했어요.

Thank you for everything, Jonghyun. We will continue to love you and we will continue to love SHINee. Rest well, rest easy.

I hope that SM releases Jonghyun’s album posthumously. Not to make money, but to give his final works the chance they deserve to be heard. They could donate all the profit to mental health awareness or suicide prevention.

This needs to be said and I’m tagging everyone on this because its more than Jonghyun

According to a Dispatch interview with a close friend of Jonghyun, he died feeling like a failure and that he couldn’t live up to expectations. Can we please stop putting these idols on pedestals so high that the moment they don’t do as well, they feel like they will plummet into nothing? I would rather have my favorite groups announce they were never going release music again if it meant that they could focus on themselves and live happy lives. At the end of the day, I don’t need a new album. I don’t need a world tour. But what I do need is for my faves to get physical and mental rest. And to know that sales and views dont matter. What does matter, at least to me, is their happiness, them knowing their worth, and that they are enough. Jonghyun didn’t deserve to feel like he wasn’t enough, and no other idol should.
