-She smiles a bit, happy to be free of his constant teasing.- I’m assuming that means you approve, so… Thanks, Prewett. Means a lot to hear you say that. Or at least something resembling it. -She ashes her cigarette then brings it back to her lips, inhaling its smoke while she listens to him.- For what it’s worth, they’ll get better. Molly’ll forgive you, she’s your sister and she has to. Doe… she might take a while. But eventually, she’ll find someone else the same way you have, someone who means more to her than you did, and then she’ll understand. That sometimes you have to go through a lot of bullshit before you finally find someone like that. And then she’ll realize that this was the bullshit you had to go through. -She pauses, putting out her half-finished cigarette and watching as the burning red ashes fade into various shades of grey. She turns to hand the rest of it back to him.- Or something like that.
-He nudges her knee with his- I was just...I dunno, maybe I wanted to see if you could handle us Prewetts and our craziness. It was a shite thing to do, though. Even I can see that Molly's taking it too far. -He offers her a smile and holds out his hand- Truce? Gid'll be so proud of us both for being so mature when he hears. -He looks down, picking at some loose threads on his jeans, chewing meticulously at his lip as she speaks- I'm just sorry that I hurt her. Regardless of whether or not I needed to go through it. It just....-He draws in a deep breath of fresh air, tossing his cigarette onto one of the porch steps and stamping it out- It fucking sucks.
