Coward’s Move I Evan and Percy

Evan rolled his eyes at Percy’s words. He wasn’t going to fool him. No, he wasn’t going to get off the hook that easily. “You ran away in the night,” Evan said, point blank. “Is there any world where that doesn’t make you a coward?” He got close to Percy, getting in his face. “You were too afraid to face me so you ran.”
He took a breath, stepping back. As much as he wanted to there was no way he was causing a scene at the royal wedding. That was negative press that he didn’t need. “A simple explanation would do. ‘Hey, Evan. I decided to fuck off somewhere else because I’m bored,’. See, easy?” He felt like a child, sixteen again hurt after his beloved football coach stole away into the night.
Percy kept his stoic appearance. Even when Evan came so close. He let the King explode on him, taking it before even thinking about saying something. Evan clearly didn’t know the real story. The story in which the late king, his father, played the role. At the ranting Evan, Percy just took in the image of the boy who had grown up so much in the years past. It even made him smirk a tiny bit, which he quickly stopped before that would be used against him, too.
“Evan..” Percy started, calmly. Not many people would get the sincere and calm tone after having gone off on him like Evan just did. “I don’t think you know the whole story.” He said. “I didn’t leave. And definitely not out of boredom.” Percy assured him. “After it became clear that I have... powers, your father...” He paused for a moment. “Asked me to leave. Right away.” ‘Asked’ was a very bold embellishment. “He told me that he would explain to you why.” Judging by the reaction, Percy guessed he didn’t do that.
