Arms folded stubbornly across Wyatts’ chest, lips in a stern frown as he kept a fierce composure, being as intimidating and authoritative as he could while keeping a sense of unpredictable recklessness around him. The blond man stared ahead at the group before him, eyes staying focused on the one person he knew was the leader.
❛ You have someone I care about ❜ he claimed, raising his head ❛ someone that’s under MY protection. ❜ Of course, if it were demons he was dealing with. Talking wouldn’t have been the plan. But this was a charge that was in the line of fire, his charge. And Wyatt was sworn to protect them, no matter what human dangers they were caught up in. ❛ Normally I don’t bother negotiating, and trust me. I didn’t want to come in here and talk. But I can tell you now. I’m not leaving here without them. ❜
Thea rolled her eyes, unimpressed with his posturing. Of course she knew who he was, any one with an ounce of magic in San Francisco knew of Wyatt Halliwell. And sure it would be pretty damn easy for him to blow her to smithereens. But along with his reputation for strength came his reputation for mercy and Thea didn’t think she was in any danger. She gave her employees a curt nod, indicating they should withdraw and give Wyatt and herself some privacy. They moved without hesitation, knowing the penalty for disobedience. She turned back to Wyatt, lips pursed as if in thought.
❝ Oh, you mean Lisa? ❞ she asked, referring to the young woman now resting in Thea’s private office. ❝ What is she, your girlfriend? ❞ she regarded Wyatt thoughtfully for a moment before shaking her head. ❝ Nah, not your girlfriend... your charge? Ooooh, future whitelighter? ❞
She paused a moment, glancing down as she thought back to what had brought Lisa to her. Protecting people wasn’t exactly her forte, and life would be easier if she just let Wyatt have his girl back. But she also wanted revenge on the demons that interrupted her business dealings.
❝ Well, you’re not very good at your job are ya buddy? Since it was me that saved your girl from an unpleasant and flamey death. ❞ Arms folded, smirk barely hidden as she taunted him. ❝ Look, she was in the wrong place at the wrong time, wandered into the middle of my business when a darklighter and a couple of demons showed up, shooting and flaming anything in sight. We got outta there and took her with us. ❞ A beat. ❝ You’re welcome. ❞
A light knock from behind her told her one of her boys was waiting to speak. ❝ Uh, Boss? Girl’s asking for you. ❞
❝ Bring her out, her knight in shining armour’s here. ❞ She waited for him to disappear again before turning back to Wyatt. ❝ She’s all yours, I got no use for her. But I wanna know why darklighters and demons are teaming up and I wanna blow them up so if you’re planning on going after them, I’m coming with. ❞
It wasn’t a request.
