Bob Schneider’s Burden of Proof is a frequently beautiful, often morose, downcast album. I get the feeling he’s using broken romantic relationships metaphorically—that when he sings about not connecting with someone he loves, he’s also singing about not connecting with a bigger audience. And he does it with just the right lack of self-pity to make what he’s bemoaning interesting.

Quiet Company at The Kessler Theater on July 10, 2015

Thanks to winning a contest run by prekindle, I got to attend the quietcompany show at The Kessler. My favorite band at my favorite DFW venue? Major score. Many thanks to Prekindle for the hook up.

Because I hadn’t took photos of the guys in ages and didn’t have photos with Drew in the group, I lugged my gear with me. Of course, I was singing along behind the camera the whole time, but I still shut it down early to enjoy the last few songs. These guys know how to put on a show, and it’s always a blast. You really should do yourself a favor and see them. And then buy their music and shirts.

Best moment may have been Taylor’s spur of the moment monologue about the nature of love and relationships. It was a brutally honest moment on stage that I hope someone recorded for posterity’s sake.
