Could i possibly request various field templates? We've been really struggling to find formatting we like fhsheh
instead of making multiple templates, i'm going to teach a man to fish. i've tried to keep site lists short because i don't like jumping around 50 websites when i can use just one or two.
not mad here, i just think this will be a lot more useful in the long run, and the things in the tips segment are things i haven't seen discussed.

text resources.
unicode characters by category. this page sorts them in a more intuitive way than unicode blocks. generally you should be able to easier tell what is/isn't a language symbol and what will show up on your device.
unicode inspector. classic program, useful for identifying something you come across online. may not be mandatory due to the above link but still extremely useful to have.
tts tool. we do not personally use a screenreader and cannot account for differences in every single model, but we can use this site to see what likely will and won't be read out loud. we recommend using the screenreader on your device to test your templates, but this site seems to work fine.
image resources.
photopea. good for psd application, we use the cloud storage (peadrive) to make matching images faster without keeping potentially massive files on our phone. layer organization can be very annoying on mobile and they unfortunately now have an ai option but who the hell doesn't atp. number go up or whatever. it's still much better than dealing with adobe even through strawhat means.
remove.bg isn't perfect, but it's much better than ibispaint's native background removal in our experience. downloading the preview size is usually good enough.
(edit: a commenter has recommended photoroom's background remover. we forgot this existed.)
for finding image sources, we've shockingly had luck with google lens of all things. searching by exact match will often either lead us to the source itself or a repost that gives credit to the original artist. extremely unwieldy and not perfect but it's ended up working a lot better than expected.
i am not going to link every resource hoard rentry/carrd out there because there are countless and many contain dead links. there are many images both here on tumblr and on pinterest that are open to be used. a personal favorite of ours is lupineshieldmaiden here on tumblr. if you prefer to search yourself, we've seen a lot of people use yandex to find images. if you want fandom-specific pngs, search for assets. this works best with games because oftimes people will rip the high-res files to a cloud folder, but this should be fine for anything.
image hosting.
catbox tends to go down the most but has the shortest urls.
postimages goes down less, has longer urls but files can be renamed to shorten them.
filegarden has the best organization, but the more nested folders you have the longer urls will become, and it is a genuine nightmare to deal with on mobile.
tumblr. even if the post is deleted, the image is not, so we have a sideblog for the sole purpose of uploading images to use. we use it mainly for flag stamps that we make, although we also dump anything we don't want on our phone anymore. images from private blogs/posts will also show.
tips.
whitespace before an image link will offset the image and anything next to it. whitespace on a line by itself also does not count as a line break.
making the dimensions of an image uneven won't cut or stretch anything. all it does is add empty space on the longer side.
while multiple spaces at the start of a line create inline code, whitespace allows an indent & can be combined with normal spaces.
whitespace in a line by itself will also make linebreaks larger, similar to the image trick. hitting enter more than twice makes no difference in simplyplural so if you want large gaps, this trick is your friend. you only need one instance per line.
we recommend having a private template profile that isn't in any folders just for ease of access & editing. so much of template-making depends on how you personally organize things and your balance between pretty vs convenient. we have cut down to a far less image-heavy layout between our first post and now due to it being a hassle to fill out (we have a very high headcount and finding images for all of them is nigh impossible, not to mention how long some images would take to load.) if you are in a position where you are both able and willing to go heavy on the aesthetics, wonderful, but there's no shame in only using one image or none at all.
ultimately you will just have to mess around with things, differing screen sizes can and will mess up the spacing (we have a wider phone than many we know) and the only way you can guarantee something will look right on every device is to not format it at all. some phones display fancy fonts, some don't. some screenreaders read format tags, some don't. at the end of the day the information is there for you.

hello, we've been attempting to utilize your gender hoard template for our system but we can't figure out which "few clicks" it would take. we're not particularly familiar with notion overall and are unsure if you mean creating a new database or simply adding an extra category/backlink(?) to denote which headmate identifies with the label. thank you for both the template and the help.

tl;dr: make a category, but the category type depends on what you want for your own gender hoard, and also some basic safety tips for if you want to share your hoard online but are a system. more info below because it's kind of a long post with images and shit
when you select the @ symbol on the keyboard, you can actually pull up a list of pages that you've previously made as a backlink! (these are all pages ever made btw.) from this, you can make a "text" category and then use that to fill in headmates' names :) you're still able to filter names just fine btw, and you're also able to see the backlinks on the alter's page :) however, the only downfall with backlinks is that if you choose to share your gender hoard publicly but not any alter pages, it will show up as "no access"—good for privacy if you ever actually choose to make it public, still want your own functionality, but don't want people to pry on your business.
in the case you want to share online but still keep alter pages private, you could make a view which omits any personal information that people can't access anyway. just click on the category and select "hide", though note that people still can see that you have a separate view as well. if you want certain information to be completely private, you should just make a separate page with said private information, as well as turning off the function to make duplicates in the publishing menu in the public page (share -> publish -> "duplicate as template"; the white circle should be to the left and the empty space should be grey).
if you choose to not use backlinks or don't want to create separate pages for alters, you can use text category OR use multi-select category to create separate "tags" for each label—though this can be a little bloat-y depending on the amount of alters in your system, and can be slightly hard to manage if you care about alphabetizing (since notion doesn't automatically alphabetize tags).
