Incidentally I would recommend against coding footnotes in posts/above readmore links. The reason for this is if you have multiple posts on your blog’s tag or chrono page with footnotes (whoever uses that many, good on you), you’ll need to keep track of your fn ref numbering, which will get terrible and unreliable in a hurry. 

The keep reading link does still lead to the blog page when accessed in reblogs, which is nice to see. It just won’t work that way in an original post.

i am messing with custom theme, need placeholder posts to preview. thx.

html edit - footnote appears to be supported on blog page only, not on dash (which makes sense). ↩

entering in markup confuses post editor tho, so use html for best results.

unsurprisingly, a readmore breaks this completely. next test, footnotes under readmore.

middle observation: tumblr will sometimes shorten the html and condense it down to what it believes is necessary, so footnotes may stop working (removes fnref bits)

"sometimes" may be if you edit a readmore into it, but idk what other edits might cause this.
