WHERE THE FUCK DO WE GO FROM HERE
this morning, i listened to the fellow women in my office talk brightly about pantsuits and where they planned to be the moment we elected our first female president.
now, a misogynistic, racist, xenophobic, ableist, homophobic sentient smear of cheeto dust is poised to win the election to become the next president of the united states.
how the fuck did we get here? and where do we go from here?
sexism and racism are part of the foundations of our country, but they wove together even more insidiously on the public stage of US politics this past year. donald trump is a sexual abuser, a racist, a cheat, a liar, a fraud, and he will be overseeing a senate, a house, a supreme court, and an entire nation filled with people who admire and agree with him.
the message is clearer than ever: people like me don’t matter here. america is for male whiteness. this election is a sharp reminder of that after eight years of pushing back against the white resentment and fragility that have been festering like a rotting wound in the roots of this country.
this isn’t a game. there are no do-overs. real people are going to pay with their lives.
