“This is our first Christmas together. I have the feeling it’s going to be beautiful.” Looking up at the decorated tree, Amanda had long forgotten how it was to celebrate Christmas at the castle. Gaston had changed so much in her life. Not only did he bring a smile back onto her lips, she was also pregnant with their first child.

“I do know you’re not so fond of me nor my family. I can see it in your looks. And in those of my cousin.” she spoke to Belle when the two shared a moment alone. It was another event, another moment for her Mason and Belle’s Rosalie to be in the spotlight. No one would’ve thought that out of all, those two would end up together. And here they were, proven wrong by the power of love. “We should both slowly get used to each other. We will soon be an even closer family as it seems.” she spoke, not looking at Belle. Her eyes were glued to Mason and the lady at his side. The two moving in sync over the dancefloor once again.

Gaston took in a deep breath, trying to process his thoughts. He was about to speak up that he wanted to marry her, he is so in love with her and he would jump at the opportunity to marry her. When she started talking about a crappy house in the village, he stopped in his tracks. “Oh, Heaven forbid you move into my crappy house that I worked hard to build.” He said as he turned around, crossing his arms over his chest. “I could care less where I live, or what my title will become. I would want to marry you, because I love you.” He said as he stepped away to look out the window. 

The emotions she felt on the inside, she could never describe them. She felt sadness, anger, joy on the other hand, fear. Just all at once. And who could blame her for bursting out like this, standing there crying and saying stupid things. And she was righ about to argue further about her status and the wealth she was used to, when he said those little words he had actually never said out loud before. Well, Amanda could’ve thought he liked her, even more because of the amount of time they were spending together. But none of them ever said them out loud. She never did. She was too scared to admit it. Even to herself. And his confession opened a new door for her.

“What did you just say?” she asked slowly, wanting to hear it once again. “Do you really love me?”

There was no doubt that Gaston was a nervous wreck. He wasn’t ready to have children. Not yet at least. He always planned on finding the perfect wife before having a child. Just like after that night with the princess happened unexpectedly, the consequences from their actions came unexpectedly. He knew that Amanda was going to get checked to verify she was pregnant, this was going to show what the near future was going to be like.

Gaston took a deep breath before walking into the room she was in and slowly slid his body in. Once the words fell from her lips, he nodded. He wasn’t surprised. “Well, what should our next steps be then?” He knew the royal family had rules to follow, and he wondered if Amanda even wanted to keep the baby. He knew the two needed to talk it out. “Do we get married? Do we stay at my place to raise the baby? Forgive me, but I am just a commoner.”

Amanda was in loss for words. In general, she had no idea what her next steps would be. So far it were only the two of them knowing about this. And where would it take them? She doesn’t know. But she was quick to raise her brow at the other’s words, the way he acted. Where had suddenly been this confident hunter she had met this night? The one she seduced or more like the other way around? From what she had heard about him, he had no issue with confidence and now he was saying he was just a commoner? 

“I don’t know, Gaston. Don’t you want to marry me? Don’t you want to become the Prince or even King of this land? Isn’t that baby the perfect opportunity for that?” she wasn’t really aware of what she was saying there. The baby made her so emotional. And she was just blurting out whatever came first to her mind. And she was used to getting used for her title. Why would he be any different. “Fact is, I’m not going to live in a crappy house in a village. I do live here, at the palace, because I am the princess.” she spoke, her tone firm. “What are you going to do about it?”

It’s been a few days ever since Amanda had told Gaston about her pregnancy. The young princess felt so stupid for making such a scene in front of him when she wasn’t even sure if she was pregnant or not. And if she was, there were at least a hundred more problems coming her way. They weren’t married, she was expecting a child from someone who wasn’t even in a relationship with her. She could only assume what her mother would think of her now. But she told herself not to worry too much, at least not for now. Not until she saw a doctor. 

Her mind was empty for a moment. After she ahd heard she was indeed pregant, her life seemed to suddenly stop. She knew everything would be different from now on, that this would open a door she tried to keep shut for so long. And even more, would he stay? gaston said yes but would he really? As soon as the door opened and the man she had just thought about walked in, she kept silent for another moment before she finally had the guts to talk to him. “Congrats. You’re going to be a father.” she spoke, trying to see any kind of reaction in his face.
