Insane to me that I was just told by my mother that I need to be more “overtly supportive” and “congratulating” toward my sister because she’s graduating early from college this coming spring. Meanwhile, I finished my undergraduate degree with two minors in 4 years when it should have taken 5.5 without taking any intercession or summer classes because I was working every single summer. I was in 21 credit hours for 4 semester WHILE working and being involved on campus. Then I took a year off to work at a nice as fuck law firm where I was literally on the admin team and was constantly exceeding expectations and working above and beyond my job description. All the while I was living with my long term partner on our own with no financial support from my family. Jump to now, I’m engaged to that same wonderful, successful man and doing fucking phenomenal in a very well respected law program. I’m excelling in my summer internship so much that I was offered a position for the future when I’m in law clinic. That’s HUGE!! I was offered a TA position for the upcoming semester by the Dean of students because my appellate brief was the best of my entire cohorts. Meanwhile my sister is working at summer camp and blowing all her money on bullshit, the most recent being a pair of golden goose. She can’t and won’t drive. She can’t wash her own clothes. She can’t cook for herself. She doesn’t pay for any kind of bill, schooling, food. She’s not even nice.

Now you might be asking yourself, “what is it they want you to be so excited for her for?” Well, I’ll tell you. She claims she’s going to go to graduate school. She’s made no efforts to research a grad program or submit any kind of application. She just said she’s going to go which apparently means we need to throw her a party. But surely don’t bring up anything good I’ve done because “that was your choice to do all of that. Nobody asked you to do that.” It’s “just law school, not that big of a deal.” And “your sister gets good grades too.” Like yes I’m so glad that she got an A in her online literature class, that’s very comparable to the doctorate degree level classes I’m taking all the while also living on my own and taking care of myself, my partner, our dog, and usually that same fucking sister because she is a helpless little sponge.

On occasion I like to think about how hateful my ex girlfriend was and how since breaking up I’ve done so many thing that she desperately wanted to do. Stay hateful 🙂‍↕️
