The Millennials and the Gen Z

Do you guys know what Generation Z is? Well, let me tell you first. Generations Z is what comes after the Millennial Generation. Those who are born between the mid 1990s up until the early 2000s. Every generation has a different way on how they do things and solve a certain problem.

There are a lot of issues and challenges that the generation Z are facing today, may it be at school or at work. First, the generation Z and their future bosses might have a lot of indifferences. Second, generation Z we’re too early in the game to make any definitive statements about the employees of the company as they enter the workforce. Third, Gen Z wants everything to move fast. They wanted to finish everything ahead of time, this could be good but this can result to ineffective work since they will not be able to go through everything thoroughly unlike the millennials who like to do things slow but surely. Fourth, Gen Z might bring a different set of qualities, needs, and wants. This might bring up a conflict between them and the manager who is a millennial. There are things that the millennial would want to do things the old way or ways that they used to do. But as the Gen Z enters the workforce, they might do it the other way around, way more different from what their managers used to do. Fifth, communication, Gen Z can be refer to as the emoji generation wherein if often use symbols in our messages, this might bring a little problem with your boss since he/she won’t understand what you’re really trying to say or portray with the emoji that you used. 

Based on all the readings about the Millennials and Generation Z, i found out that there’s a good side and bad side about Gen Z entering the workforce and how it will affect the existing employees which can be referred as the Millennials. I also learned that technology will really bring a huge impact in business world. Generation Z has a higher level for risk intake rather than the Millennials, they are more likely to be entrepreneur than being an employee. Millennials and Gen Z have a lot of differences but if they continue to communicate well with each other and work harmoniously, it can give out an effective result and output.

Code of Ethics

Let’s first define what it means, it is a set of standards adopted to govern the conduct of a business people. Each company has a code of ethics, wherein their business should be legal and shouldn’t be harmful to the environment, clients, and the company itself. 

There are a lot of reasons why a business leader should have a code of ethics to adhere to. First, showing your employees that you are a responsible company, if you don’t show this to them they might not work for you since they don’t see that you’re responsible enough to handle and take care of the business well. Second, Showing your customers a value of integrity, customers tend to like those company that practice code of ethics since they know that there is a attempt in developing the culture of the company by being responsible and honest businessman. Third, this can help the community, in a way that they can start the change by promoting social constructive change through raising awareness of the environmental and community’s needs.  

A business leader should be reflect on his purpose because in putting up a business, there are three questions you should ask yourself, where do you want to go, what do you want to do, and how will you do it. these three questions signifies your vision, mission, and strategies. As a leader, you should ask yourself where you want to take your company and what do you want to contribute in the society. Since you have the capability to help the community, you should practice doing it. Reflecting to these things are necessary so that you could prepare yourself in making a positive difference and to lead. After you reflect on your purpose, of course you should also put your actions into it because a purpose without action is useless. Start thinking of what difference you can make for the betterment of the world.

It is important for a business leader to guide his company in which direction they are going since you are the one who has the vision for the company and for you to be able to bring your company to success you must guide them all throughout. You should continue looking for that potential that your organization and your people could give you. A good business leader ensures that the ship is sailing the right direction, even at rough times.

SL JOURNAL 2

We did our immersion last July 28, 2018 at Mapulang Lupa, Valenzuela to do the different ideas we have prepared to help our partner organization, Kayumanggi. Our class was divided into different groups to make sure that we can cover all the problems and help they need. Even though we’re not allowed to shed out money for the activities that we have prepared, all of us made sure that we will be able to help them in the best way possible. 

When we arrived there, we were asked to stay inside the van since the participants that we were supposed to teach and help are not present at the venue. Despite the wasted time we had inside the van, we were still able to do the task that we need to accomplish. Our group was assigned in educational section. We decided to conduct a seminar about writing a sponsorship letter and constructing a resume. 

The participants we need are probably high school, college students, and those who are looking for jobs and sponsorships for their organization’s activities and events. But, another problem came up because the participants available are grade 6 to grade 7 students. Therefore, we had to think of something that we can do to help these students. We decided to divide our group into two. The first half will help the older ones on how to make a sponsorship letter and the other half will teach the grade school students. We asked them what subject they are having difficulties in understanding. So, our groupcame up with a solution, we decided to teach them basic math because we feel like that’s the subject they need to focus on. 

Teaching the kids gave me realizations as a person. I realized that I am lucky enough to have a life like this and get the things that i want and need. Also, they help me realize that i can do something useful for the community even at my age. Despite the hardship they have in life especially those kids, they did not forget to smile. Seeing those smiles of the kids that we helped made me feel good and now I feel like wanting to help more. 

In our world today, a lot of people needs our help. If you have the chance to be at service to those who need it, Do it. Not all are fortunate to have a good quality of education like we have, that’s why when they heard that we’re going to teach them some lessons that they don’t understand in school, they became excited and joyful. I can say that at that exact moment the happiness and willingness I have seen on those kids’ eyes were unexplainable and so is the joy they gave me. This service activity helped me a lot. like finding ways on how i can share the blessings and knowledge i have. The experience I had there is quite unforgettable and worth remembering.

Sharing the Gift of Love

Love is when you show kindness to other people despite of everything that hinders you from being good to other people. Kindness can be shown by doing things that you think can help them. There are different ways to help those who are in need and the photo below is an example on how you can show the world that you care. The photo is such a lovely picture because it portrays the willingness of a person and the happiness they feel when helping those who are in need. As you can see people from the partner organization is also included in the photo below, and you can also see through their eyes that they are thankful enough that Lasallians are there to help them in their own different and little ways. 

Last June 23,2018 the students of De La Salle University visited a community somewhere in Valenzuela City to meet the organization they are going to help. most of the people here are factory workers since a lot of factory is built in Valenzuela City. The students were divided into seven groups and they did a brainstorm about the things they can provide and where they can help on improving in the community in regards to livelihood, education, and others. An example of the thing they can help with Livelihood is the students can do a research about making products and teaching it with the wives of the workers. while in education, they can conduct a tutorial sessions and give out handouts and reviewers for the children of the workers. 

The interaction we had with the people we are going to help gave me realizations. I realized that there are a lot of ways on how you can share the love you are feeling and how you will be able to spread the Happiness in the world. You can join organizations that do charity or you can even help in your own little ways. Also, I realized that I am lucky enough to have a good life where i can get everything I want and I need in life. While the parents of the kids in this community are suffering since a lot of factories that they are working on has contractualization wherein they give the workers a temporary employment that is less than six months. A job for less than six months will never be enough for a man that has a wife and children that needs to be fed.

The material things we have here in this world is all temporary, sooner or later we all have to die and we can’t do anything about it. So let us all be kind and just love one another because it will surely feed your soul and the reward for it will be more than you can ever imagine of having. Do good things to contribute in the betterment of the society and the world. Be the change everyone is hoping and looking for. Kindness, Love, and Happiness can start with anyone so let it start with YOU.
