posting this on all my accounts. i’ve been crazy busy over the last few months because of the show i’m in. it’s show week this week - so i’m hoping this time next week (21st) i’ll be around again.

Fabian can’t believe he’s here again at an Order meeting. The first war was bad enough; he’d lost class mates, he’d seen people he cared about die and he’d almost died himself. It was scary, fighting alongside his twin brother, and now his little sister is involved. Not to mention his niece and nephews. Fabian wishes Voldemort would fuck off and let everyone live their lives in peace.

That’s easier said than done, though.

He’s one of the last ones to gather in the kitchen of Grimmauld Place which is filled with Order members, old and new. Some he recognises, some he doesn’t and one . . . who looks all too familiar.

Fabian feels something in his gut, but he doesn’t know if it’s coincidence or something else. His heart beats faster as he keeps looking at this woman and he just about convinces himself that it’s not her until he hears someone address her.

Adelina.

It can’t be his Adelina . . . the woman who disappeared without a trace years ago.

Fabian can’t sit in this meeting without knowing. He moves quickly, wrapping his hand around her arm to tug her away, mumbling ‘excuse me’. It’s not until they’re alone in a room that Fabian looks at her properly and speaks.

‘ Forgive me if I’m confused but it’s you isn’t it? Adelina . . . ’ he feels awkward but he has to say it. ‘ you just left and didn’t say anything. ’ Fabian is older now, there are more wrinkles on his face and his hair is greyer but she looks no different.

          hearing his name  brings a whole new wave of emotion to her features.  eyes begin to well up with tears, lower lip quivers as she tries desperately to hold it in.  head turns away quickly, scooping up the groceries once more and rushing about the kitchen to put them away.  housework had always worked to distract her in the past.  but there was never any housework to be done these days.  it was just her, and molly had always been the only one picking up after herself.  the burrow remained nearly spotless every day since her family had left.

          ❛ he uhm…  he left. ❜  she tries to make it sound casual, but the strain is obvious in her voice.  ❛ a few weeks ago actually.  the kids are all gone, ginny is at school.  it’s just me. ❜

Fabian is desperate to try and stop his sister from being so upset but it seems like every time he opens his mouth he makes it worse. Just as he’s about to give Molly a hug, she turns and walks away,  beginning to busy herself. It’s a tactic Fabian is familiar with.

‘ Molly. ’ His voice is stern, trying to get her to look at him. But then he gets it. Arthur is gone.  He left. Does that mean . . . ?

For a long moment, Fabian does nothing and then he feels his temper rise inside him at a quick rate - it’s a Prewett thing that all three children seem to have - and he has to seriously resist the urge not to kick something over. It isn’t his house, after all.

‘ What the bloody hell do you mean he left ? ’ He asks. ‘ He left you alone?! ’ Fabian’s fists clench. ‘ That little weasel! ’

          she’d had to get out of the house.  try to, at least.  she’s barely hanging on by a thread, feels as if she’s  dead inside.  the end of the war was supposed to bring peace, supposed to be a great relief.  but instead it had just made everything fall apart even worse.  fred was gone, a loss she’ll never get over.  finds herself clutching his picture most hours of the day, seeing the smile, seeing  life  in his eyes.  completely unaware that he would meet an early death.  and the rest of her family, they suffered greatly at the loss.  all of her children were gone, left home, couldn’t be here.  and the one person she’d depended on most, the one person she loved more than anything else had abandoned her too.

          and she’d just let him walk away.

          a bag of groceries is in her hands, eyes tired, looking so much older than she really was.  hair was unkempt, frizzy and seemingly unwashed.  she looked dreadful, just as she felt.  her brothers voice dragged her out of her pity party, and sad, tired eyes lifted to his face.  ❛ i’m alone. ❜

He’s been affected by the war too, as he had the first time around, losing friends and colleagues . . . he’s grateful there’s never been that one person around too long that would make him fall apart. No - love is never on the cards for Fabian.

‘ What do you mean you’re alone ? ’ he asks. Fabian’s eyes are wide and full of worry. His little sister looks older than he is, and that’s something he never imagined to see. Even with seven children, Molly’s always been full of energy and life, always smiling, willing to put on a brave face. But this? She’s lost Fred, of course she’s distraught . . .

The kids weren‘t around; trying to move on with their own lives in the ways they know how; they’re older . . . they don’t need to be at the Burrow anymore.

‘ Where’s Arthur ? ’

Fabian isn’t stupid; he knows something is going on, and he needs to know what it is once and for all. He’s seen the looks on the kids’ faces, the grief they feel for the loss of Fred. And his sister . . . Molly . . . dealing with the loss of a child is something no one should have to go through. He needs to be there for her. Gideon is busy, helping others across the UK to rebuild their lives and Fabian has to be with Molly and Arthur.

But when he turns up, something doesn’t feel right. The house is empty, and Fabian immediately notices that Arthur’s stuff isn’t here. His eyes glance to the clock, and see that Molly’s travelling. He hopes she’s coming home, and just as he hopes that, Molly’s clock hand moves towards ‘home’ and he hears the kitchen door open.

Fabian moves quickly. ‘ Molly? Molls, what happened? ’ He asks tentatively, not wanting to cause any more upset, but Merlin help Arthur Weasley if he’s broken Fabian’s sister’s heart.

just because molly has red hair doesn’t mean that fabian and gideon have. in my headcanon, fabian has dark hair and it is possible for genetics to create one red haired child and another dark haired child.

‘ oh come on Molls! ’ Fabian protests. He’s not trying to scare Arthur away but if it works then he isn’t going to complain. The only thing Fabian wants to do is make sure that Arthur is the best for his little sister. He’s sure she would do the same for him.

‘ That’s incorrect I would be this protective if you dated any other guy too it just so happens that Arthur is your first boyfriend. ’ When Molly tells him she really likes Arthur, Fabian grins. ‘ Ooooh you really like him? ’

‘ Moi? ’ Fabian gasps in sarcasm, holding his hand over his heart in mock offense. He’s not trying to intimidate Arthur, but rather wind him up to see if he’s able to deal with it. A lifetime with Molly means a lifetime of Fabian and Gideon pulling a prank on you when you least expect it. Fabian gives his younger sister a grin.
