Note: I hope you like this, it’s pure fluff, basically.
HIs cold fingers lingered against the framing of the large window as he looks out onto the pond with a sigh, his heart still beats rapidly in his chest almost like it would never end. The slightest, most rapid thought of you could start the thumping of his poor heart.
He felt a gentle touch against his shoulder, a hand being placed upon it. “I’ve never seen you so enamoured, not ever in all my time of knowing you.”
“Charles,” He sighed, turning around. “She has bewitched me ever since the first moment I laid eyes upon her divine features.”
Charles only let a soft smile spread across his face. “I never thought in all my time that I’d see you so contented and joyous about someone like this before.”
The man could only nod to agree with his friend. “As did I, not ever have I been so completely captivated.”
“I’m glad, my dear friend, you look complete with her presence.” Charles spoke, that smile still on his face.
He then thought of you in all your glory, he could only think the world of you and nothing less. The first moment he saw you he felt himself light up inside, but of course he would’ve never shown it at the time.
He bit down on his lip, thinking.. “She looks at me and I just...” He then paused, trying to find the right words as to how he should describe this.
“Forget your name?” Charles asked him, keeping down a chuckle.
“Exactly. I’ve never been so...What word am I looking for here, Charles?” He asked, perplexed.
Charles could only laugh softly before answering. “In love? I suppose that is, of course, what you mean to speak.”
He nodded, breathing out a laugh.
In love, that was it. He was in love with you, he had already figured that out, but it was still astounding to him. Mr. Darcy could’ve never thought himself in love with anyone, not before you came along and made his days better with only a smile.
“Are you planning to propose?” Charles asked, stepping forward to look out the window.
“I would want no one else to wed but her.” He answered simply, thinking of you and your perfect imperfections.
Perfect imperfections, yes. It would make but no sense to anyone if he spoke it aloud but him. He thought of you as perfect in his mind, even with the things no one else would agree to put in that category. Everything you did was perfect, perfect because he was deeply in love with everything about you.
Charles turned around and he almost gasped as his eyes widened slightly, looking behind Darcy’s shoulder, but he did not try to give it away as he wished to smile. “Maybe, uh, perhaps, you can ask her yourself.”
Charles fled the room in seconds. Bewildered, Darcy turned around only to almost have an aneurism.
You stood in the entryway, a wide smile complimenting your features. “Have you forgotten your name, Mr. Darcy?”
He suddenly had it, for the most part, together after a moment of fright. He laughed softly at your comment while looking down at his feet for only a second, holding his hand out for you.”Perhaps, but would you care to tell me how you stumbled upon a private conversation, my dear?”
You walked towards him, letting him take your hand in his. Giggling only quietly, you responded. “Your sister wrote me, so I came to see her. Though, of course I happened to come across this ‘private conversation’.”
“Perhaps you shall let me still attempt my proposal?” He asked, now holding both your smaller hands in his.
You nodded, smiling at the warmth of his hands against yours. “Oh, of course, just one thing.”
He looked at me quizzically, but still with a soft smile upon his lips.
He didn’t have a worry in his head and thoughts, not when you looked at him like that. You knew exactly what you wanted to say to him, the words you wanted to say to him for so long, making your true feelings known.
“I wholeheartedly, earnestly, and most ardently love you too.”
