Happy Colobus Day! Unlike most primates, colobus monkeys lack thumbs and were named for this unusual adaptation. (📷: Debbie Beals)

It takes a village to raise a colobus monkey! The large multigenerational family group at the San Diego Zoo, led by breeding male Milo, welcomed a cute baby boy this month—and because of a unique behavioral trait, every one of them will get a chance to help raise him. See the full story on Zoonooz.

As you can see, green paddy frogs [Hylarana erythraea] are a diverse bunch. They typically range from golden-green to dark olive in color. However, it’s still extremely unusual to find a blue specimen of this species. These frogs were all found together on lily pads in the Philippines, and the blue frog was found to be in good health despite it’s rare color mutation. Images by Kenneth S. Kennedy.
