#it really depends on the game #ace attorney wouldn't be ace attorney if you weren't playing as phoenix #same thing with mario #and one of the things i love the most about overwatch is the characters #however i also love games with character creators that let you make an entirely original guy #as you can see by my current icon DHJSKDSLK #speaking of bg3 it actually has a good mix of all of these protag types pfft #tav as the completely blank slate #durge who is mostly blank but has a predetermined background #and the origin characters who are completely pre-existing
