My family has been going though a string of bad luck for a few years now, and things have started to really hit us hard over the past few months. My mother was laid off in November and has been desperately searching for work, to no avail. At the end of this month, my father will be going on strike, possibly for months, and we will have no income. I have a summer job, but I make practically nothing, and will have to leave the possition once I go back to school in a month from now. My family will have no income and we will probably be forced to sell out house just to get by for the immediate future. I don’t really know what we’ll do after that, but I’m past desperation at this point.
I’ve already had to take out an enormous loan to afford going back to school (dropping out when I’m already halfway through is not an option) because I was given no financial aid this year despite having had a 3.7 GPA last semester and an accumulative GPA of 3.3 (which is extremely hard to get at my school).
We’ve been making all kinds of sacrifices to cut costs. My cat has been sick for months and we haven’t been able to get him proper veternary treatment because we just cant afford it. We’ve also had to cut corners in finding care for my sister, who despite being almost 30, must live at home because of her mental illness. I’ve been trying to seel commissions to make extra money, but the only way I can get people to even consider commissioning me is if I severely undercut the costs and swindle myself in the peocess. It’s just now working, no matter what I do.
I really, really, REALLY hate begging for money but I’m desperate and I don’t know what else to do. I feel really powerless, and right now making a GoFundMe campaign is my last resort. I just need help until my family can get back on our feet, and I don’t know where else to turn.
Okay, so this is my roommate and this is not a lie. She works her ass off unlike anyone I have seen before and has more than earned her place at our school.
Just to give you guys some perspective on the issue, it costs nearly 50k a year there and while the school will grant you a scholarship, it’s still not that much to help offset everything. By the time I graduate, I will be 200k in student debt, not including the extreme cost of buying materials for classes and the accumulated expenses of having to live away from home.
