Avianna took a moment to double count the crisp Genovian currency before handing it to the taxi driver, unused to the look of the foreign notes. It was thrilling to be in a different country with its old cobblestoned streets, low buildings, and rolling green landscape. It felt as though Avianna had fallen into an illustration in a children’s fairytale picture book, and she couldn’t help glancing around as she waved at the driver to stay seated and pulled her own bags out of the trunk. “Thanks!” She said, shouldering her backpack and kicking her suitcase so she could drag it behind her. 

Glancing down at her phone, she scrolled through her emails for her dorm information and began walking. “Hey, sorry, you don’t know if there’s a welcoming committee or something around here, do you?” She asked a nearby student, hoping someone might be able to give her directions. 

Nimuel had long since graduated from St. Amelie and now resided in Spain to further work towards one day becoming King. This year Chesa would have to decide if she wished to join her brother or if she would go on to  Graduate school. She had spent the last three years studying Agricultural Business and knew that her Kingdom could greatly benefit from all that she had learned, but Spain was a Kingdom that still followed patrilineal descent and as such her word didn’t have very much weight despite by right of birth the thrown should have been hers to inherit. It was her hope to change that, she just needed to get them to listen to her first. 

Chesa hadn’t made it too far beyond the gates before she had started trying to think up a strategy for the year to come. Her thoughts were interrupted when a stranger approached her, “A guy from the student senate usually volunteers, but it doesn’t look like he’s here. I can probably help you. Probably being the operative word there though. I’ve been here for three years and I still get a bit lost sometimes”

When: September 4th, around 12:30 pm 

Where: The Dining Hall

It was the first day of classes and the boy had already thought about skipping. Though he knew it was much to early in the semester to do so, and it wasn’t as if he actually wanted to fail his courses. Just because he didn’t particularly like them, didn’t mean he was just going to fail. He wanted to piss off his parents, but he also wasn’t interested in retaking anything. The only way to get through it was to stop and get some lunch in between. Not surprisingly, the dining hall was fairly crowded. There was a significantly larger number of students this year, which meant he would have to take a seat where he could find one. “Do you mind if I sit here? Thanks.” He said, not bothering to wait for a response as he plopped down next to someone. 

Chesa hated that she always seemed to be starving right around noon because of course everyone else was too and she always managed to get stuck in a line. Not that there was anything with lines, truly that was far from the issue. She always found herself anxious to get out to the livestock in the afternoon because it got so warm out and she was concerned for the welfare of the animals. The crop too would need to be looked at because she wasn’t sure of how or if it had been taken care of over the summer and as it was the first day of classes this was the first time she would get to check. It had taken forever but finally she found a seat. She’d eat quickly and then go do what she had to do. Of course though, just her luck, mere moments after sitting a very familiar sounding person plopped down beside her. “Maxim” she said, glancing over at her friend’s brother, “I’ll admit, I’m surprised you even asked”

Princessa/Principe of Asturias is the title given to the first born child of the Spanish Crown. Spain follows a patriarchal system and as such women may be awarded the title but cannot ascend the throne themselves.

Her mother was put into the same position. She met and fell in love with the a member of Parliament from the Phillipines and the two wed. He later ran for election in his home country and was elected as their president, uniting the two nations officially on September 2, 2021.

She is moved by Queen Amelia and how she swayed her parliament to allow her to rule as an unwed woman and hopes to follow in her footsteps.

Her twin brother has been groomed for the throne his whole life but she doesn’t believe him ready for it. He’s entitled and selfish and would much rather care for the needs of the wealthy than the needs of the common. He is also plagued with drinking and gambling problems that the family has fought very hard to keep covered up.

Her brother was in an arranged marriage to Hanne Synnove Kristina Yvonne until contintion rose within her Kingdom and he broke off the engagement. At the pleading of the girl to keep their arrangement Chesa stepped in herself and offered her hand instead.
