I’m sure your rain outfits are fantastic. I grew up in Los Angeles, so we never really got rain. I have a pair of a somewhat waterproof jacket, and that’s it. My big tree tip is avoid them in the fall unless you like leaves in your hair.

I’m a city girl, so I’m used to the hustle and the gritty. I can handle myself, but trees. Seems to me I’m going to be walking around with an umbrella man during fall.

Some women are just born to lead. In fact, in the opinion of Dana Reyes, all women were born to lead, she was just the one who happened to rise to the occasion. Ever since she was a little girl she always knew that she wanted more and that was saying something considering that to anyone on the outside looking in, she had everything. Born into a wealthy family with enough money to cushion any kind of blow it was pretty hard to find something to complain about growing up. Dana managed of course but that’s just because she is inherently… Bossy isn’t the word she’d use but she knows how she likes things and it’s usually the complete opposite of how you’re doing them. A perfectionist, no-nonsense, do-it-yourself kind of person Dana was never going to be happy in a world where people waited on her and were afraid to disagree with her on the account that her daddy might have them fired. Dana needed stimulation, she needed confrontation– she needed to let the fire inside of her roar not merely slowly burn and eventually and ultimately wither and die. Whatever it was she was looking for she wasn’t going to find it in the multistory mansion that felt more like a prison so she left. Ran away might be a more appropriate term but she was young, restless and unsure. There’s nothing Dana hates more than being unsure. Then she met Monika Mane and everything changed. Everything came crashing into place. Literally considering that she met Monika in the middle of a bar brawl, one of the locals had thought it okay to get a little handsy and Monika just didn’t agree with that sentiment. When Dana first saw her, the look in her eyes, she knew that she’d found someone who let their fire roar.

However Monika was hardly the easiest person to have a conversation with and she especially didn’t want to sit and have a drink with some prissy heiress from wherever the hell it was she was from. Luckily Dana is stubborn and she hates presumptions. All the best relationships start out with a few punches, right? Because that’s how these two finally got to talking. Both women were shifters, only Monika had done what Dana’s family had warned her against all her life. She had killed thirteen innocent people in order to become a full shifter, no limitations or rules or boundaries. Just power and she was completely unapologetic about it. What’s more is that Dana wasn’t horrified. She was more quietly intrigued and curious over Monika’s clear disdain for the idea that any person on this earth was ‘innocent’. It was then that she started to see what her future was going to be, what the thing she had been looking for was and if she was going to have someone by her side then it was going to be Monika Mane. The idea that in the supernatural world there were restrictions set by hunters who were quite essentially only human had never sat right with Dana. The fact that these hunters could readily kill any one of her kind with or without good reason sat even less right with her, it always had. Her parents of course insisted that you very rarely found a dishonourable hunter and that as long as she kept her head down and lived out her life without rocking the boat, she’d be just fine, nothing to worry about. Only Dana Reyes was a rock the boat kind of woman and she wasn’t about to sit still for anyone.

Fast-forward and Dana Reyes is the head of the most notorious and feared shifter clan to date. Her clan is her family, the ones who truly accept her for everything she is no matter how terrifying or terrible for that matter. And she them. Along with Monika, she takes in those strays who haven’t found their feet yet or reigns in those who are a little too trigger happy and gives them some sort of anchor in their life. Dana does everything she can to keep her people safe. To make sure they’re living comfortably not just financially because that’s easy, money is not an issue especially when you can shift into whoever you want. She wants them to be comfortable with who they are. To keep their fires burning. Dana had been waiting long before the rumours of War sparked up in the supernatural community for the opportunity to rise up out of the shadows, to stop playing pet to humans and self-righteous hunters. With the arrival of big shot Originals however it seems their time has finally come. Monika has never played well with others so meeting with Frederick Bellefonte, one of the head runners in the proposed War, was a little heated. Still both parties got what they were after and after almost a year of preparation, Dana is ready to move into the spotlight and get this show on the road already. Havensdale Valley, Connecticut is supposed to be a supernatural safe haven and she plans to use that to her advantage for now. You see every bad guy has an equal and opposite good guy and hers just so happens to be a major pain in the ass. Owen Canter is the holier than thou thorn in Dana’s side and at long last she’s ready to remove him. After all, she never was the sentimental type.

Dana is a full shifter meaning that she has killed thirteen innocent people in order to shift into whoever she wants, not simply just animals. This was a necessary evil for her to be able to protect her people and herself in this dog eat dog world. If you have an advantage in this world then you have to take it, no one is going to spoon feed you and people are rarely kind. She makes sure that those in her clan know this. Outside of her protection, the world– both supernatural and otherwise– is not kind.

Owen Canter: let’s talk a little more about that self-righteous son of a gun. Out of nowhere he came onto the scene, housing helpless shifters and whatever else walked in. There he came stopping her plans at every turn. There he came trying to ‘save’ her, to convince her that she was fighting the wrong people, that she could still make amends for the things she had done. Dana has never rolled her eyes so hard in her entire life and she’ll keep on rolling them until he sees sense or… Well, let’s not get into that before we have to.

Many have come and gone in Dana and Monika’s clan but all have remained loyal. People from all walks of life have come into her home and yes, many have been dangerous but you know what? So is she. Felix Olivera is a close associate of hers in the clan and she has promised to do what she can to help him get his daughters Erica and Rose Evans back. Both girls conveniently live in good old Havensdale Valley.

Speaking of the Evans’, Dana also knows that Felix’s nephew Peter Olivera has moved into Havensdale and what’s more is that there is a witch protecting him. Warlocks Dana can happily deal with, their magic and loyalty can be bought and there’s no morality issues with them. Witches on the other hand are tricky and often so good natured, she’d be surprised if they even swatted flies. Liam Black will more than likely fall into that category but she’s gotten past worse.

Another of her people who set out to Havensdale is Elexis Wolfe. Lexi has been keeping Dana updated on the movements, particularly the magical ones, in the town. So far there have been small waves but nothing too damaging, at least not yet. She has a soft spot for Lexi, doting on her almost like a daughter. Dana’s perfectly aware that there are causalities in War but if she has it her way and she so often does, none of them will be on her end.

Dana is excited. When all the messy stuff is over, this world is going to be at the mercy of the supernatural. No more hiding. No more running. She can’t wait to meet other front-runners Engel and Edward Carrington. She’s determined to make sure they know that when the dust settles, she won’t be following anyone’s orders. She’ll be the one who’s giving them. Still, between them all, it could be one hell of partnership.
