Set during the time Kiss-Shot spent as a goddess in Japan, Shikimonogatari: Himiko War is a monogatari fanfiction that tries to tell the story that unfolded back then.

Himiko War

Everyone is probably familiar with a story of a phoenix. The immortal bird that nonetheless age and grows old and in the end of its “life” burns away, turns into ashes in one bright blaze – only to be reborn, to rise anew, leaving old life behind, burnt and charred, and start a new one from scratch.

It’s very easy to look at the heroine of this story, Himiko, a simple girl, as she is gasping for the air amidst the still burning remains of her home village and think that she is just like that bird: disposing of all what previously was, turning it all into ashes and leaving it all behind and buried. She cast away her previous life, took the hand of a deity and was reborn…

If only it was so easy.
