In the early stages of development, the fade followed a green tint from previous games. The idea was to have fully playable sequences, and as the player progressed through the story, “the dream” would gradually break more and more.

forgive me. If you were here with me, I would carry endless regret. I could not bear the thought of the dangers you would face by my side. For no path is more dangerous than the one the Dread Wolf walks.

But you follow me relentlessly, and compel me to press onward toward my goal with greater haste. To finish the ritual, which will most likely consume all the strength I've managed to recover over these years. I don't expect to be granted a second chance to survive. I couldn't tell you this, but surely you've long suspected it, haven't you?

If you're reading these words now… my heart, you must know I've always felt echoes of your fears and desires in my dreams. Even without the anchor, the shadow of your thoughts and your love haunted me through all these long years. I can no longer deny or silence the part of me that yearns for you, but I must do so all the same. I am so sorry. I hope we'll meet again in another world.
